Addie occasionally still wasn’t quite sure how to talk to Gideon, and found her nerves uncharacteristically getting the best of her now and again, but it was safe to say it was easier than it had been a few months before. Especially when they had something they could do together, like small alchemy or potions experiments. She’d heard of both potions and alchemy before coming to Ilverymorny, and knew a little thanks to her mom’s liberal ‘teach my kid about everything’ policy, but the experiments she got to do with her father were somehow still more fun, even if she was familiar with a concept already, she still wanted to see them in action.

This didn’t mean however, that Addie was any better about not touching things she shouldn’t or having a stronger sense of self preservation. Throwing random things together was still one of her favorite things to do, especially if she got to predict what was going to happen first. In an attempt to teach Addie about safety/thinking first when it came to experiments of any kind, her grandfather had begun teaching Addie cook, letting her ‘create’ any recipe she wanted, on the condition that she had to try one bite, no matter how awful the result was. This, he hoped would show the young girl that there could be consequences to poorly thought out recipes/experiments.
Much to his surprise, it sort of worked, and as it turned out, Addie appeared to have some skill related to cooking, and creating different flavor combinations, though she still had a long way to go. She was not only chuffed by the idea that she had some sort of hidden talent but was all too eager to see how the principle applied to magic subjects like potions and alchemy, and today was no exception.

Gideon had set up a variety of different things for them to work with, but had made the semi-dangerous mistake of leaving Addie unattended, and the little witch, was gleefully peering at the offered ingredients, trying to figure out which would be the most exciting combination, her hand already hovering over her first choice. She was so focused that she didn’t hear Gideon come back in right away.
