Now that her feet were back on the ground Oksana felt rather cheerful about the unexpected interlude. She wanted to ask more about working with athletes - she assumed Alyona Igorovna must be affiliated to a Quidditch team and wondered which one - but she was already late and didn't want to cause the other woman to delay an appointment either. So she drained her glass and offered another compliment on the quality of the vodka.

This was hardly the place to stand around talking, anyway. There wasn't a house or fence in sight and they seemed to quite literally be in the middle of nowhere. At least she could be fairly confident that she was a lot closer to her destination than when she'd started out, so St. Petersburg would be safe to apparate to.

Oksana wondered if she should suggest a dual or side-along apparation; not because she thought the other woman would struggle but it seemed...polite? Besides, she wanted to know that Alyona Igorovna had reached her destination safely. But before she could voice the suggestion, the other woman was taking her leave and a moment later had disapparated.

Oh, well. Time to get going. With one final check that the scroll was safely tucked inside her coat, Oksana vanished the now-empty glass, turned on the spot, and only a curious crow was left to fly down and inspect the ground upon which they had been standing.

The adventure was over and reality was looming, but Ruslan clung to their weird little side-trip for as long as he could. That wasn't going to be for much longer though, because he could see Zhenya was getting frustrated with him, and she could get stressed and annoyed when he didn't do things quickly enough.

He honestly was about to come back out of the common room and retrace their steps, when a thought occurred to him. "Wait! I'll be really quick, I promise!" he said, and dashed inside and up to his dorm. Although most of his things were packed, it only took a moment to find what he was looking for. When he returned, he had a handkerchief wrapped around his knuckles.

"See?" he said, holding it up proudly so Zhenya could see. If anyone asks, I tripped and grazed my hand on a wall, and you followed me back here to check I was alright. And then you healed it so we could both attend the feast!"

At that moment, his stomach growled. Suddenly following his sister back to the Grand Hall seemed like a fine plan. As she said, it would be half over by now and they wouldn't have to listen to the end of term speeches.

Klyk Vampira House / Re: Lights will guide you home [Kostas]
« Last post by Kanat Zhanalin on Today at 08:37:30 AM »
Kanat let the other apply the potion substance to his under eye, appreciating the care and way he did it. When he brought up Stepan, Kanat considered this. He knew Stepan, they were friends, but he didn’t realize Stepan and Kostas were friends. He might trust Stepan with this knowledge, more than anyone else. He would keep that in the back of his mind.

The little cheek kiss made him swoon internally, and Kanat knew he had a major problem on his hands now. He liked Kostas, after the kind way the other had been treating him. He didn’t know how to handle that, but he knew enough to know it was true. Like Kostas said, it wasn’t really about the sex. It was about the intimacy and closeness and kindness… of course the sex was great, too, but it was more about the other aspects. He laughed at Kostas laughing about the chemicals, though. Maybe he was breaking things down too far for a regular human.

“I understand, and I agree.” He admitted. “The confusion is definitely in the aftermath of the intimacy and rawness and..” He paused. “Just taking awhile to see if the affection for you is genuine or if I’m just confused by what happened.” He admitted, with a tiny blush. “Too many chemicals, now, telling me to ride away into the sunset.” He blushed a little more, knowing that part was an exaggeration of his true feelings.

He put his hand over Kostas’ hand as the other expressed not really being with all that many people, and wanting it for the person and not the sex. “It’s comforting to hear that.” He admitted. “WHat about you?” He asked. “No regrets?”

Naturally Ruslan wasn’t happy with her backing out. It wasn’t surprising. What did surprise Zhenya, though, was that her little brother didn’t give up yet. His determination would get him far in life, certainly he’d become an outstanding artistic flyer as nothing could really hold him back when he had set his mind on something.

“Lanchik…” she said exasperatedly but he was already marching on to push the door to the common room open. She took a tentative step forward and could see a little from afar. By now, however, she had made up her mind. She wouldn’t be caught rulebreaking on her very last day at school and she wouldn’t let Ruslan get into trouble either.

“I got a glimpse alright. Now, please, come back.” Being the responsible older sister felt strange. She wasn’t really the kind of person who told others what to do. She usually needed guidance herself.

“I don’t really want to attend the dinner either,” she admitted again, “but I think there’s hardly a way around it. At least, coming in late, it won’t last for too long anymore?” She tried to sound confident and hopeful, but, truth be told, she was worried that getting in late would already get them into trouble. She was trying hard to come up with a sensible explanation that she could say to keep them both out of trouble. However, she realised that, probably, her younger brother was the wittier of them both and would be better at faking innocence and saying something believable.

“Now come on, we gotta go,” she said and turned walk back to the Grand Hall.

“I really don’t understand why you're not embracing your popularity. See it as a game, as your time to shine. You’re the protagonist in your life’s story. Go out there, have fun.”

Sometimes Cél really didn’t understand his cousin. What was wrong with him? Was he maybe gay? That would explain why he didn’t want to date Émilie but it wouldn’t be a problem. As a Quidditch captain he certainly also had the attention of some nice guys who’d enjoy dating him.

Cél sighed as Phil told him to slow down. A date really wasn’t rocket science. Surely he’d be able to do some smalltalk without his advice… or maybe not. He grinned at his cousin, enjoying the power he had.

“Oh man, it’s not that hard. Don’t fret. Do you have something to write? If you really want, I can repeat the possible topics.” He shrugged and was relieved to hear that Phil found compliments to be easy enough.

“Wow, Phil, are you practising your skill of making compliments on me now?” he teased, “I might blush!” He did not blush, but his wide grin showed unmistakably how amused he was by the entire situation.

“Seriously though,” well, maybe not really seriously… Cél could hardly be serious for more than a minute. “Given that you are the quiet type and feeling insecure about the date you could fish for some compliments yourself. Tell her that you were surprised to have been made captain. That you hope that you can live up to the pressure and that your teammates respect you. Then she’ll boost your confidence for sure, telling you just what a great captain you are… And ask her about the summer. She’ll probably have lots to tell you. If you like, tease her a little and ask if she had any noteworthy holiday flirts. That’ll make her blush and give you the upper hand.”

“Yes, I am,” Alyona confirmed. “I’m working with athletes.” Sometimes the woman wondered how her life would have turned out to be if she hadn’t married Anton. She’d have become a healer anyway, but she wouldn’t work for the artistic flying school in Rybinsk. She’d likely be head of a ward by now.

Surely her everyday life would be hectic but she wouldn’t be so personally involved, but was that better? She felt on the edge most of the time now, but wasn’t that better than just being in a hamster wheel, doing her duty every day for people who wouldn’t even remember her name when they were healed.

“I’m glad,” Alyona said, still looking carefully at Oksana Viktorovna in case she wasn’t as fine as she claimed to be.

“I did, yes, it’s a hobby of mine,” she smiled. Her home distilled vodka was strong and she loved it. She loved the process of creating it, but the best part was when she could try a new concoction.

Oksana Viktorovna asked if she was heading for St. Petersburg as well and Alyona nodded. “Yes, I was. I guess with the portkey not working that means that we’ll have to apparate there now.” She paused. Drunk apparition wasn’t exactly advisable, but she’d manage. She wasn’t that drunk yet anyway. There was a chance she’d arrive in St. Petersburg in one piece. Hopefully Oksana Viktorovna felt as confident as well. She would hate it to learn the other woman getting injured on the way.

“It was a pleasure to meet you, Oksana Viktorovna,” she said. “I should get going now. I’m running late. I hope we’ll meet again sometime. Have a good day.” With that said, she put away her flask, took a deep breath and focused on her destination. Then she disappeared from view only to materialise in St. Petersburg a moment later.

Knockturn Alley / Re: summer in the city [deirdre]
« Last post by Pixie Clarke-Trickett on Today at 07:24:39 AM »
Although she couldn't help but feel curious about what job offer she was turning down, Pixie did have a very small, fledgling sense of self-preservation that was telling her she didn't need to know. And while she had appeared unconcerned at the prospect of getting hexed, it would be embarrassing and awkward if she had to explain to her Dad how she'd suddenly sprouted pimples or antlers. He'd have to go to St Mungos with her, and she'd have to admit where she'd been and she wouldn't get as much freedom next time... Cause and effect was a fairly new concept for Pixie, but getting out of here unscathed (and naturally, with a thrillingly embellished tale to tell her younger housemates) felt like the best option.

The girl noticed she was holding her wand, and seemed to make a decision, basically telling her to go away. Pixie wasn't fooled. She could tell that the girl didn't want to duel in public, and she privately congratulated herself for standing up to a threat. The fact she had walked brazenly into Diagon Alley in the first place and caused the whole situation passed her by, of course. As the girl put her own wand away, Pixie mirrored her movements, smiling as well.

"Thanks. It's been nice to meet you. I hope you find a suitable employee soon" she said, her mind racing. She would have liked to turn away and stroll towards the exit as if she hadn't a care in the world, but she wasn't entirely convinced that she wouldn't be hit by a hex from behind if she did that. The alternative would be literally backing away though, and that would look cowardly as well as run the risk of backing into someone less...balanced than this girl was.

Okay. She could do this. Pixie took her hand off her wand and deliberately relaxed, still smiling. "Bye!" she said, as if this was something she did every day. Then she turned and walked away, a little faster than she would have liked but she couldn't quite bring herself to stroll calmly. A few moments later and she was back in Diagon Alley. Pixie let out a breath she hadn't realised she'd been holding. She turned and looked back, but the girl was already gone.

Suddenly she felt very proud of herself. She'd been down Knockturn Alley and survived! She'd pretended to be an adult for long enough today. Pixie decided to reward herself with a visit to Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes.

Looks could be so deceiving. Lettie had truthfully thought that Jeanne Cézanne was a nice woman and would applaud them for how amazingly they mastered the difficult sequence. That the woman was playing a killjoy and even pointed them out for having done something wrong definitely didn’t go well down with her.

While she still kept her composure - a thing she had learned in artistic flying - her friend seemed to struggle more. As an artistic flyer, Letizia was used to it that people looked at her even if she wanted to hide after a poor performance. This, however, hadn’t been a poor performance! They had done really great. They shouldn’t be criticised for being the best dancers in the room!

When Jeanne Cézanne announced a break, Lettie immediately looked at Amandine. Her friend looked awfully upset and rushed out of the room without a word.

“I’ll better go and check on her,” Lettie said, offering the instructor a fake smile and followed her friend. There was no way she’d return to this class later. Ballet was great but not when she was held back like that.
