march 2005 The benefit of spending many holidays at Hogwarts (first for money, and then for
other reasons) was that Cassandra was veeeery familiar, by now, with many of the secret passages and technically-not-secret-just-forgotten staircases of the castle. Particularly the ones that went Up and Out -- sneaking to Hogsmeade during breaks, because the fuck else was going on in the castle, and then up to the rooftops just because she could.
The appeal of toppling off the roof to the grounds and getting to rebuild her body in the hospital wing was, admittedly, less these days, but, anyway. She liked the roof for the same reasons she liked flying; up in the air, the only thing that mattered was fighting gravity, not anything else.
She wasn't quite up there yet, though, was rolling a joint against the fresh pressed fabric of her trousers on this abandoned staircase, sitting on her robes rolled up into a cushion against the stone. After -- up to the roof to smoke and watch the stars wink into existence.
What Cass didn't expect was footsteps -- she quickly covered her work with her robe, placed a magazine on her lap that she definitely was demolishing for wrapping papers, and tried to remember the de-odorizing charm. Too late though -- It was only Townie. "Hell you looking for up here, mate?" she asked, tossing the magazine aside.
