Magical Hogwarts

These are some of the other locations on the Beauxbatons lands.



Stables: This is where Madame Maxime's and Beauxbatons' prized Abraxan winged horses are kept and cared for.

Atrium Greenhouses: A large round garden full of varieties of roses, there are several gardeners that take care of this area. The herbology class is done here, there are storage places for supplies for both the gardeners and the herbology class.

Beauxbatons Stables

The stables at Beauxbatons, decorated throughout in muted pastel shades of the house colours, are magically charmed so as to seem smaller from the outside than they actually are. This is necessary, given the size of the two dozen Abraxans which are permanently housed there, as well as a roughly equal quantity of regular horses of varying breeds, some belonging to the school and some owned by students, who have special permission from the headmistress to keep them at school.

The workings of the Beauxbatons stables are overseen by the caretaker and stablemaster, currently Baledin Ernaut (NPC, male) who is a graduate of the The Piegnarbeau Equine Studies Centre. In addition to these school and student horses, he keeps a pair of Aethonians, which feature in the NEWT-level studies of certain classes. Those students who wish their service to take place in the stables will have obtained permission from the stablemaster before beginning their service there.

Once through the two stable doors that are the main entrance, the first thing one notices is the large arena that is used for training and dressage, with tiered seating on two sides for students to observe displays and other events that involve the horses. Above the arena is a magically-reinforced glass roof which can be opened by means of an incantation known only to certain professors and the stablemaster. Once open, there is ample roof for the Abraxans to exit the stables; indeed this is the route by which the carriages leave Beauxbatons on their way to collect students ready for the new school year at the end of each summer.

Behind the arena seating are magically soundproofed walls; to be sure that any applause or other sounds from students will not disturb the horses still in their stalls. Certain Occupant de la Faune Magique classes also take place using the arena and its seating, and those students who show particular promise in this area may be allowed to take extra studies in caring for the Abraxans, their anatomy, and other related subjects. Furthermore, any students wishing to ride the school horses (winged or otherwise) are not allowed to ride unsupervised outside in the grounds until they've proven themselves in the arena to minimise accidents.

Accomodation for the Abraxans can be found to the left of the arena, with two rows of six stalls, each of which houses a pair of the winged horses, which thrive best when they have company. There is a similar layout on the opposite side of the stables for ordinary horses, and at the back of the stables there is a nursing/veterinary area for any sick animals. Naturally the stablemaster lives here as well; his quarters are directly adjoining the veterinary area in case any animal needs attention in the night.?á
