m e m o s

Ever wanted to send a note between characters, but didn't want to start a full owl mail thread? Now you can!

You can send interdepartmental memos (e.g. within a Ministry, Hospital, or other business), or short notes between family and friends ("Meet you at The Three Broomsticks this Saturday"), or maybe your students have some gossip! However minor your memo, you can post it here in this topic -- you can also send howlers. The main difference between sending a "memo" and starting an owl mail thread is that a memo is not intended to be a continued or lengthy exchange between two characters. Feel free to tag relevant characters in your memo!

Memos must take place in the current playtime.

Please use the following form for memos and post in this thread (do not start a new topic in the Owl Mail board):

We need to arrange a meeting at your earliest convenience to discuss your employee @Donn Bane and his actions on the 28th September when George Larkin was apprehended for breaking the Statute.

The report I have received on the incident is shoddy at best and full of inaccuracies.

It is of vital importance that this is dealt with sooner rather than later.

If Friday afternoon is convenient, I suggest you arrive around 4pm. You will of course be most welcome to stay for dinner.

Have you been keeping up to date with the news in the Prophet? Mr Shacklebolt's recent statement was particularly interesting, I felt. I look forward to hearing your views.

Contents:

Dear Nick,

Sorry it's been a while since my last letter, school's been busy. How are you? How's your mum? I hope everything's well at home.

I'm sorry to have to tell you this in a letter, but I think we should stop seeing each other. Well, we haven't seen each other in a while, but you know what I mean, don't you?

You see, all my friends (and all of their friends) have been breaking up over the last couple of months. It just doesn't seem right for me to be the only one still in a relationship. I know this sounds mean, like I'm using you so I won't be left out in feeling sad with my friends, but I'm really feeling quite fine and... well, that's the problem isn't it?

I hope you're not too torn up about this news. I know it's rather sudden, and I do feel awful for having to be so brusque about it. Maybe I'll see you over Easter for tea or something if you'll have me?

Best of luck with your future endeavours,

Dear Mr. Willbond,

I hope you are doing well in post Hogwarts career things at the Ministry, I hope it is okay that I am writing you at work.

I wanted to ask your advice as a former Gryffindor Prefect, I don't know if you have heard but I am this years Gryffindor prefect which of course I take very seriously, but I may have challenged a classmate to a duel despite not being in the dueling club and also during class I got a detention. I have two questions,

one, will I be fired for this?
two, how do I win a duel ?

I have also written to former head boy Henry Murphy on this but I think he has never gotten a detention in his life, anyway

Hey buddy,

Just found this under my Potter bobblehead, sorry for the massive delay. I'm guessing by now you've either had your duel and detention or are expelled and doing the study at home thing. Just kidding! They wouldn't expel you over something like that I don't think.

But I'm happy to help if you need any advice in the future. I taught Murphy everything he knows about being a prefect so it's good that you're coming to the source.

It seems like you got a good head on your shoulders so if you ever get in the situation again, here's my advice:
1 - They don't fire prefects at all pretty much so no worries there. Well, I was technically canned after one year, but I wouldn't say that's the usual.
2 - Make sure you know a few good curses and hexes, ones that'll be embarrassing like the pimple jinx or the sprouting antlers one are always good. Make the other person think twice about dueling you. Then again I haven't exactly ever won a duel except with my younger brother (best bat bogey hex I've ever done and it was glorious) but I can ask an Auror round here if you need more tidbits.

Needless to say, stick to your guns and don't let bullies push you around. If you need me to drop by and throw my weight around, happy to do so.

Hang in there,
Danny

PS - Please destroy this after reading it.

PPS - Just kidding on the destroying the note thing :) I've just always wanted to say that.

Mr. Baker,

I hope you perhaps remember me ?óÔé¼ÔÇØ we met in August, in Brussels. You said to let me know when I wanted the other half of our interview.

I would like to cash that chip, if you have a moment between now and the first of next month. I know a number of muggle restaurants and hotels in the city where we would both likely go unnoticed, but am willing to entertain a suggestion for venue.

Have you any experience with the world of publishing? Do let me know so I may prepare accordingly.

Ms. Leighton,

I remember our ?óÔé¼?£interview?óÔé¼Ôäó very well.

I?óÔé¼Ôäóm free most Friday evenings. I?óÔé¼Ôäóll let you pick the location as long as it serves Jameson or a half-decent Malbec ?óÔé¼ÔÇØ and yes, I?óÔé¼Ôäód appreciate a more subtle venue than the Leaky Cauldron.

I?óÔé¼Ôäóm not a publisher, if that answers your question?

Sam,

I hope this owl finds you well.

My limited knowledge of the British and Irish League leads me to believe there aren’t any Lynches at Wigtown.

While I am sure you can afford your own tickets, I am hoping this goes some way to bribing you to consider supporting Gravesend.

As you are aware Ophelia is leaving us and if you would like to contribute some thoughts, well wishes or abuse related to her leaving the DMGAS, please feel free to sign the card on Janet’s desk prior to the 16th of July.  Embarrassing stories are always appreciated.

Further to that if you feel so inclined I have got the short straw in organising her leaving gift.  If you want to contribute please get donations to me by the 11th of July.  It will be used to get her some vouchers to keep up with her expensive clothes shopping habit….

Thanks

Dear Minerva,

I trust this owl post finds you in good health and the familiar hustle and bustle of Hogwarts.  Here I am, scribbling away from the dreary confines of Azkaban, and I couldn't help but think about the potions classes I'll be missing out on next month.  I know, I know – odd thing to be concerned about from someone in my current predicament, right?  But you've got to admit, my lessons were always a little more interesting than the average concoctions class.

Now, I'm not one to beat around the whomping willow.  I realize that my abrupt arrest likely leaves you in a bit of a lurch regarding the need to fill the Potions position at the last minute before the new school year.  My apologies for any inconvenience.  The point is, I liked teaching, and I daresay those students of yours might miss my unconventional methods more than they'd care to admit.  Hogwarts was a home away from home, and I can't bear the thought of my cauldrons gathering dust while some poor soul drones on about the proper way to stir a potion.

I'm fully aware that my situation is, shall we say, a bit delicate. The Ministry's idea of a "teacher's lounge" is more of a cell block, and I wouldn't dare ask for anything less than a full-time Auror escort and a wand-free existence. I get it; I'm a liability. But, Minerva, I also happen to believe I'm one of the most qualified witches for the job.  Let's face it, Professor, my charm and wit are unmatched, and the students loved my classes. Sure, they thought I was someone else, but hey, details. The point is, Hogwarts needs me, and I can't stand the thought of leaving my cauldrons unattended.

I'm not asking for a Get Out of Azkaban Free card, but a chance to contribute from behind bars, so to speak. Can we chat about this? Maybe over some firewhiskey in a more cheerful setting than these damp and gloomy walls?

Looking forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely yours,

Will,

I have been meaning to write to you for some time, but life has been busy as of late — it feels like a lot of time and none at all has passed since Paris.

I wanted to let you know I have taken up a position at the hospital in London, and wondered if you might want to meet? I am bound to a schedule now but I will try to work around any commitments you have.

Bien cordialement,

I'll admit, I was surprised to receive your letter but I agree, it has been a while. Congratulations on your new job! I remember once upon a time you said you hated the place, so I do hope you've changed your mind and are settling in well.

How about Tuesday at 13:00? The Fox & Ivy, just off Regents Park. They serve a wonderful ham and cheese butty. Don't worry about moving your schedule, I've cancelled my meetings all day.

Looking forward to seeing you,
