Hi all! I wanted to give a heads up that our image hosting site will be going down within the next couple of days. I will be moving it from it's current hosting plan to the one that our main site domain is on, in order to minimize hosting costs.
Please note that while the site is currently up, uploads and registration has been disabled. All images and accounts have been backed up and will be restored as soon as migration has been completed.
I apologize for the short notice and inconvenience.

I'm horrible at writing these things, so please bear with me as I ramble. I joined MH almost 17 years ago, and to be honest I didn't think I'd stick around that long. But something about this site and the people on it have kept me here. However, I've struggled to stay present as the years have progressed and to that I apologize. To be honest, I'm burnt out. I don't enjoy writing as much as I used to and I constantly battle with the thought of deleting all my characters and starting over because I can't connect with most of the characters I made as a teenager and in my early 20s. After a lot of thought, I've decided to take a step back from my role here as head admin but am not leaving the team or site. I will be staying on as tech admin, but the remainder of my duties will be passing onto Inga and we will be head adminning the site together in this capacity. Effective immediately, she will be taking over my previous duties of supervision of all schools, content, and plots/events, as well as continuing her leadership over Beauxbatons and all things artistic flying. Thank you for all the years y'all have put up with me and for giving me a chance to lead this site, and I hope moving forward y'all show the same respect and understanding to Inga that you've shown to me. Hi all! I'm unsure how many of our members this effects, but Nickpic image hosting is shutting down. Here is a message with information from its founder Nick: It is with a heavy heart, due to notorious actors we have decided to shutter nickpic.host. There's a deep seated amount of rampant abuse of our services in our community. We have gone through and deleted over 60,000 images that violated our terms of service. In order to protect our community, ourselves, and, those who are victims it is decided to hereby shuttered nickpic. We're working with our host to determine how long we have.
Effective immediately img.nickpic.host will no longer resolve.
* You can view any image by changing "img" to "fluffy" so basically img.nickpic.host > fluffy.nickpic.host
* We updated the randomizers to still resolve during this time. We'll look into adding a new randomizer service down the line for users who need one. We are willing to share our code for it.
You can download any album (we recommend keeping around 250 images or less in albums for efficiency reasons) via navigating to your album and pressing the download button.
All of your images will resolve if you log in and go to your image / albums.
Please find another image host as soon as you can. Please try to use an image host that is an actual business. Small image hosts like ours are being targeted left and right. We have it on good authority that imgbb and imgfly have both been targeted as well.

If you've been online recently, you probably noticed that our user groups changed colors and got new tags!
Some changes to our group structures:
-- There are no longer separate main usergroups for each Ministry of Magic. There's now an umbrella one with America, Britain, France, Russia, and Sweden as secondary tags. We also now have an "Other Ministry" secondary tag for Ministry characters that fall outside of those five countries/areas.
-- There are no longer Healer-in-Training or Mediwizard-in-Training usergroups. Everyone in these two groups have been placed into Healer and Mediwizard, and received an "Apprentice" secondary tag. The secondary tags for Dilys Derwent, Gorsemoors, and Jehenne de Brigue were removed.
Additionally, new tag requests for things like quidditch teams, etc., are currently closed for the time being. These will be reopened in the future and will be announced at a later date.

Hi y'all! We finally have a new theme after what feels like a million years. It works really well with mobile and smaller screens. As with all our other theme releases in the past, if you run into any issues, please send me a PM or reply to the Error Reports topic. If the new theme isn't your cup of tea, the old theme "Into the Night" is still available to be used. ~ Daphne

@Board Access Hi y'all! Firstly, I wanted to let you all know that the option to make your profiles hidden has been reinstalled. I believe I've figured out what was causing the garbled text + posts not wanting to show up, but if it starts up again, please let me know. Secondly, the profile page is coded! You can add your character's sheet information into your profiles, To change the colors of the sheet text, place the below code in the 'General Information Header' field. Hi everyone @Board Access , In an effort to stop non-members from stealing character sheet content, a new modification has been installed that allows you to specify who can view your account profile. The default is set to "everyone", however by going to Profile -> Account Settings, you can change the settings by selecting an option from the dropdown list next to "Allow my profile to be viewed by". Whenever someone outside of the permission you've set tries to view your account, they'll receive this error message:  The permissions to use this modification have been granted to sorted character accounts and OOC accounts only. Unsorted character accounts will not be able to use it until they've been submitted for sorting. If you have any questions, please feel free to reply to this topic or send me a PM.  ~ Daphne

Hi everyone!
Now that we're back on SMF, there are some kinks that still need to be worked out. Tomorrow I'll be working on fixing permissions that are affecting certain groups from viewing various boards on site. I'll also be finishing the theme and adding some modifications. The board will be online during this time, but take caution when posting your characters by ensuring you're saving a copy off the site before pressing post.
I don't anticipate maintenance lasting all day, however anything can happen. I will update everyone as the day goes on.

This is just a quick announcement to let y'all know that I'll be starting the moving process for us at around 5:00pm CT (6 ET). During this time, the board will be turned offline, so members will be unable to post. Registration will also be turned off, so please wait to work on any new characters until maintenance is over.
