When she had read about the new ski resort with all its extras in the newspaper, Louise had decided that she needed to take some time off work, away from her gallery and London again. She always liked to travel and discover new things. It was a chance to get some new impressions that might inspire her work as well. The young woman had packed a small suitcase and had taken the portkey to New Zealand. It was the first time she travelled this far via portkey and the witch had to admit that she felt a little sick after the short but intense journey.

The woman had first found herself one of the very few free rooms in proximity to the ski resort and had then gone exploring. Louise did not intend to go skiing, snowboarding or ice skating. While she liked some sports the winter sports were not really what she was into. Nonetheless the English woman liked to watch others enjoy these kinds of sport. She took a few hours to look around and admire those who were proficient on skis, snowboards or skates.

However, once she came across the area that exhibited ice sculptures everything else became a whole lot less interesting. She wondered if she should exhibit this kind of sculpture in her gallery as well. With some well done charms it should be possible to keep them from melting. When she saw that there was even a place set up for an ice carving competition, Louise could hardly wait to sign herself up for the challenge. Ice carving sounded like a whole lot of fun. She was a dedicated photographer and a designer for adult toys but she could as well expand her field of art and work on ice sculptures.

The competition was meant to start in the early evening and when Louise lined up with others who intended to join the fun, the blocks were lit with different coloured lights. The look of the glittering ice was mesmerising and gallery owner nodded in acknowledgement. This was a good concept. "This really looks great," she muttered half to herself, half to the person next to her. "Participating in this contest will definitely be a memorable experience, don't you think?" Now she offered the person next to her a smile and made clear that she was addressing them.
