“Doubt it, it’s Killian,” she emphasized though she realized that probably didn’t mean anything to him unless they were friends and that seemed unlikely. Either way, Magnolia didn’t’ want to get caught by Killian or Billie or any of her other friends because then she’d have to explain herself and she wouldn’t be able to. It wasn’t even anything exciting and yet, she had mixed feelings about their friendship or relationship or whatever they were supposed to be at this point. But the girl shook the thought away, he’d made it rather plain what they wouldn’t be and that was enough for now.

Maybe she’d still get him a Christmas gift anyway, not because she wanted to or whatever, just to piss him off.
“Right,” she responded in return, a sort of non-committed answer to what he had said but felt a little put off by it. She wasn’t really sure if he meant he’d see her later in the general sense or in the sense that he actually wanted to see her later. Whatever, she’d probably spend most of the night awake, staring at the ceiling, and replaying everything embarrassing she had done and said inside of her head. But at least she could say that she’d gone through with it and shown up.

That had to count for something, right? She gave him a little wave, walking in the opposite direction, stopping after several steps to look back at him once again. She needed a sign, anything.

There was nothing.
