Hello! I was wondering about Obliviated characters-- like if it would be possible/plausible to play one (provided a good backstory and history leading up to that point).

Do you mean characters who are listed as disabled? If not who do you mean?

Characters that were memory-modified for some reason, I think. An
Obliviate
doesn't completely erase the memories, right? For example, when the Obliviators Obliviate the Muggles that see magic, they don't lose their whole memory (I think).

Personally I don't see why not.
I'm rereading the books right now, and from what I gather they modify memories. Like Lockhart uses memory charms after he steals stories from people so they don't believe they did whatever it is they may have done. But it doesn't seem like he prevented them from surviving on a daily basis...they'd just have modified memories of what really happened.
Also in the 3rd book they say that Marge won't remember what happened to her (they easily remedied her situation). As far as the readers know she still hates Potter and believes he's dirt. It's the Dursleys that still remember what he did to her. (I'm pretty sure they don't modify their memory, just hers.)

I think it would be possible, but you would need to have a really good reason as to why they'd been obliviated, which I'm sure you have already thought of, and also, you'll need to show what it adds to the character. I mean, if they'd seen all sorts of terrible things, for example, but don't actually know about it, what would be the point of them ever knowing such things in the first place? Are you intending to have them discover they'd been obliviated and try to find out why?
It's early here. I may not have phrased that too well
