I was wondering what happened to students who fought for Voldemort in the Battle of Hogwarts but survived. Would they be held accountable for their actions?

Thanks in advance!

HAHAHA - what makes you think you asked a question we hadn't thought of yet?

I think I'll throw this one straight back out to the members. What do you guys think should happen? Obviously a lifetime sentence to Azkaban for students won't happen, evidenced by the fact that Draco and Astoria had a son 7 or 8 years after the battle. I personally suspect a lot of kids will claim they didn't understand what they were doing or simply do a runner and insist they weren't even there and it must have been someone else under the influence of polyjuice potion.

The possibilities are certainly an option for playing out after the battle though. I'd love to hear other opinions on this!

I would think that the students who are under the age of 17 wouldn't be held accountable for their actions,
and the students who were 17, well, it's not like they were death eaters. They were just expressing their opinion.
And probably punishment would be according to what they had done.
Like, if one student managed to kill someone they would probably be severely punished.
If they managed to give someone else a bruise, who would care?

I hope I make sense here... xD

Ooh, thank you all!
Yeah, I was thinking about this because the question applies to Cassia and I doubted that she'd get off scot-free for fighting on the wrong side. I think the students would probably get punished somehow. I thought it might be time in Azkaban for at least the ones who are of age, which unfortunately includes Cassia ^^ but I agree with Jonna about the below-age ones not getting in as much trouble.

I think it would depend what she actually does. If, for example, she's seen actually casting an unforgivable curse against a fellow student or professor, it might be a trip to Azkaban or something along those lines. If she can manage to convince people she got caught up in the middle and was trying to just stay alive, she'd probably get away with it!
