Pureblood, rich and/or influential?

I've got a new character fleshed out in my mind with quite a detailed family history. I've been looking through the application process for established family backgrounds and was wondering how pedantic you are with accepting applications. I know I'm a new member and you probably want to reserve rare bloodlines for members who've been here a while.

Okay thanks!

I'm going over the details in my head right now but I'm drawn to the 'please make sure you really need the status you are requesting'. My character is a savagely ambitious Ministry employee who's after the top jobs basically, however she comes from an incredibly wealthy family who specialise in importing various goods from the East (the family business was established back in the mid nineteenth century when they initially  solely imported magic carpets and managed to gain monopoly and massive financial gain. Whilst this background is incredibly important for her character and background it isn't necessary for a Ministry employee. I would intend to branch out and play other family members in the future who would actually be working in the family business, but my character herself doesn't actually have much to do with it. Would that disadvantage the application?

Sorry if that made no sense... it's late :P

Yes, if you don't intend to play the character in a way that makes use of the status, this would be a disadvantage to your application.

However, making use of status isn't restricted to working in the family business. It is a matter of how the character was raised, how they live, what they think and what they believe. If being from a rich family does not affect how you play the character it likely won't get approved. However, I would need to see the application to say more.

Our comment whether or not the status is needed, however, had more to do with the fact that being "rich" is a matter of perspective. Some people applied for rich before because their char's family could afford food and books.

Ah okay, that makes perfect sense. Consider this issue solved. Thanks!
