Height:
   Imperial; 5 foot, 4 ½ inches
   Metric; 163.8 cm
General Appearance:
Ralitza’s skin tone relies heavily on the place she has been working at the most. If she were to stay on the dragon reserve in Romania then her skin generally has a lightly sun-kissed complexion since her duties often times tend to keep her outside more than in. If she were to spend a majority of her time working at smaller hospital sites around Romania (and Russia every so often), then her complexion is more on the lighter side since she’s stuck behind the blandly colored walls of the buildings.

Ralitza's eyes are rather sunken in and the effect makes them look a bit more spherical than they really are. There are times when Ralitza's eyes are naturally outlined in a pair of darker hued circles according to her past experiences (Corina’s birthday, Radoslav’s birthday, the day she gave Corina up, wedding day, and any other day that holds some kind of emotional significance to Ralitza) that come up and tend to prevent her from a decent night's sleep. The years that followed her giving Corina to Tatyana, Ralitza experienced numerous hours of insomnia as her mind lingered regretfully on how she had handled her given situation.

She's small in stature and looks rather frail. Her frailty is the result of her ongoing struggle with the choices made in her past. Ralitza can go a day or two without eating and not even realize it. She had gotten better over the years with keeping up a healthy diet and maintaining a decent amount of weight but she still sometimes slips into her mode of forgetting to eat or sometimes not even wanting to. It'd be hard to imagine that such a tiny woman could actually possess some hidden muscle. Ralitza’s muscles help her a great deal when it comes to difficult patients, pushing things, helping out on the reserve, etcetera. Rali has small feet and small hands. Her skin is soft and her touches are kind as are her eyes. Ralitza’s almond eyes are very expressive of her changing emotions. She is able to project her feelings at a split second in time through them be it fear, happiness, anger, annoyance, compassion, or worse yet, sadness. Her nose is long and comes up into an elegant sloping point. She maintains a decent posture, unless she's craning over a bed in an effort to help someone in need.

She smiles often and because of such a habit, she has defined laughing and smiling wrinkles around her mouth when she's partaking in the act. Ralitza's visage isn't full by any means and in fact looks just as sunken in as her eyes. Her cheek bones are very pronounced and her chin has a nice rounded end to it. Just below her right eye is a tiny yet visible beauty mark. Ralitza doesn’t usually wear makeup since she spends a majority of her time at work where such detail goes to waste. She doesn’t do anything special with her hair unless the occasion calls for some attention to be given to it.

Dressing Style:
Ralitza loves to dress to impress when outside of work. She enjoys wearing dresses that fit her body in all the right places. Rali enjoys nice dinner outings for which she can spend some time to get ready by fussing over her hair, her dress, her shoes, and her make up for at least an hour only to produce what she considers elegance. Ralitza enjoys wearing heels when the time calls for it, especially when and if she is dancing. Her favorite colors for dresses and robes are black, white and burgundy. Rali absolutely detests bright colors of fabrics and she will admit to never really being fond of the St. Mungos robes.

When she's not primping herself for a fancy night ahead, Ralitza can probably be seen in casual wizarding robes that vary in thickness depending on where her duties beckon her to for the day. Rali also enjoys a simple buttoned up shirt that is long enough to tuck into the waist of either a pair of high-waisted women's slacks or a knee length skirt. She takes pride in keeping herself clean cut outside of work. It not only boosts her self-confidence just enough, but she also finds it as a much better way to present one’s self to others.

She isn't really one for accessories. The most she'll wear is her golden necklace consisting of a thin golden chain, a small key that is used to unlock her trunk of memories, and a tiny, gold, heart-shaped locket that has small diamonds scattered around the edges and the center. No one has seen inside of it and most have been told that it's empty and she just liked it for its design. Though in reality, there are two photographs that have resided in the locket for the past seventeen years, one of which continually changes year after year; the photographs of her aging daughter and her lost love.

personality

General Character Traits:
Ralitza has always been a very emotional being and has found herself ranging from one extreme or the other. The woman hasn’t ever occupied a middle point for long periods of time, at least none that she can remember. Her emotions affect her decisions greatly and she sometimes finds it difficult to make a decision on her own. She will find herself needing reassurance from others that she is making the correct decision should others be around. If Rali’s forced into making a decision on her own, then her emotions at that time will definitely steer her course. This, for the most part, has ended up in really wonderful choices or, on the darker side of it, really terrible choices.

She's more or less quiet on a first encounter since she's trying to feel a person out before pursuing any kind of relationship with them. It takes her awhile to find herself trusting people since she has been tossed away like trash before and, to be honest, doesn’t want to have to go through that again. Ralitza truly does enjoy having people close to her and so her career choice was really fitting for her. Ralitza likes to think that she forms bonds with everyone that she encounters, be it good or bad. She'll talk a person's ear off should they find themselves in her good graces and if they can't seem to make their way there, then they'll never know what they’re missing out on. Rali is a great friend to have. She has the ability to be both the venter and the ventee when it comes to consoling moments with her closer friends.

Ralitza is an unreserved lover. She gives a lot and asks for very little in return. Rali tends to throw her entirety into her relationships and wants nothing more than to have a family full of love and happiness and all the other sappy stereotypical additives. When in a relationship, her love is tenacious and loyal, unwavering and true. Ralitza is very sensitive to the others’ needs and places her own on the backburner. She can be a very concerned individual or a very laid back and free-spirited woman. Immature at times but whilst in the face of professionalism, she is one of the most proper people to ever encounter. She knows there is a time and place for everything; it's just a matter of figuring out when and where to put things to use.

Ralitza likes to know everything about everything about everyone and their mother. She'll cling to people she likes and won't leave them alone unless they pry her off of them. She has this nasty tendency to follow people around to see what they're doing and why. A people watcher could be a better description of her since she finds humans to be so interesting. She's curious about her little girl and at one point Ralitza let her curiosity get the best of her and Rali ventured out to an event and nearly got herself caught in the act.

Despite her odd natured tendencies, Ralitza has a very knowledge filled head on her shoulders. She's dedicated and confident when it comes to her job. She knows the ins and outs of being a Healer and doesn't particularly enjoy advice from others. Ralitza has been doing it for so long and it's turned out wonderfully thus far, so there's really no need to change up her ways. Rali is one to offer help without hesitation though. She's pretty set in her ways unless the other person is smooth in the way that they offer their advice.

Personality Type: ESFJ

Likes:
She is a nurturer by nature and can't stand to not interact with children. They have an effect on her like nothing she could ever describe! She is filled with happiness, sadness, curiosity, envy, adoration, and a multitude of other emotions whenever she sees or encounters a child. She loves playing with kids be it a simple coloring game or working in a rehabilitation game to help them recover from whatever injury that is causing them to suffer. Most of her emotions experienced during moments of encountering children could originate from her personal loss of her own child. Not loss by death but loss by choice.

Ralitza likes to indulge every once and awhile and her means of indulging involves red velvet cake. It's quite possibly one of her biggest weaknesses when it comes to a gateway softening her heart. Presently, along with the good comes the bad. While she may enjoy that particular food, a sinking feeling in the pit of her stomach forms every time she thinks about eating it. A tickling of grief or even hate works its way around her insides due to her memories. At times the memories conjured up are actually good ones that she would never want to lose. It was red velvet cake that changed her life, for better or worse.

Giving Rali some credit can go a long way with her. She likes to be recognized for a job well done. Applauds are something she typically enjoys to over indulge in as well. Praise is what fuels her to push forth in her work and in her life in general. She loves to make others happy and will go out of her way for anyone if the need calls for it. Her nurturing aspect can come into play as well in this aspect in that she'll aid others forth in their hopes and dreams. And when/if that person achieves their dream, Ralitza looks forward to numerous thanks and the sort. She enjoys bettering others along with bettering herself on her own terms.

Ralitza enjoys other odds and ends as well. She loves parties where she can dress up, converse and surround herself with a variety of people. Dancing is one of her favorites and she could spend hours just twirling around on her tiny feet. Rali loves to laugh and smile, even though at times this isn't always possible. She loves the weather when it's snowing and the sun is still out. Moonlit nights and long walks along pathways leading to nowhere in particular have a special place in her heart. She loves to read and learn languages so that she can put them to good use. Rali likes animals and finds them to be a near substitute for children at times. The innocence that a child carries is what continually draws Rali in to them.

Dislikes:
Ralitza can't stand to feel inadequate. She yearns to please and hates to disappoint. She doesn't like feeling small in such a big world and doesn't like when pillars (pillars being her form of people) are taken out from under. Rali is in constant search of her perfect view of what life should be like and when she thinks she's got things all squared away, it never fails that something goes wrong. She doesn't like to let people down but that doesn't stop her from doing such a thing should it hold a possibility in her being able to find probable happiness faster.

Being how she is, Ralitza often finds herself looking over her shoulder. She's slightly paranoid and can't stand it. She can't stand that the backs of peoples' heads remind her of Radoslav, the person she has been trying to drink or medically erase from her memory. Her minute experiences conjure up some paranoia because Ralitza feels as though one person or another is constantly judging her. The Bulgarian woman has developed her own form of a rough outer shell when she feels like she is threatened thanks to her paranoia. She’ll typically become very terse and her eyes will certainly hold some anger behind them.

Smoking is a big dislike of hers, which is shocking since she exchanged vows with a man who partook in the disgusting habit. Ralitza will try to nip a cigarette out of a person's hand if she knows them and she'll stomp it out prior to giving them a lecture on the harm they're inducing on their bodies. It's a nasty habit that she'll hope to discourage others from continuing. Cigars are a different story since they aren't smoked as frequently, but again, if she knows you, she'll nip it out of your grasp after a fair amount of time.

She doesn't like overly greasy foods or anything sour. She doesn't like how fast time seems to fly by since she always feels like she's forgetting something important. Rali hates to see people disappear out of her life since she somehow or another develops a strong bond with most everyone she encounters. Ralitza doesn't like moments that are continually filled with silence and she'll try and start a random conversation just to make the silence disappear. Not being a mother, at least not a motherly figure, bothers her to no end and causes her to succumb to sadness for a few moments or so.

Habits/Mannerisms:
Ralitza has a tendency to massage the back of her neck when she starts to get a little stressed out. It doesn't happen often but as a means to busy herself or to take a small break, she will just place herself in a comfy chair and just massage away at the small knot in her neck. Ralitza also has a habit of rolling her eyes, especially around people she's comfortable with. If something is bluntly or stupidly spoken, Rali will probably be seen rolling her eyes. She tries to hide it so that it isn't too obvious, but these efforts still tend to fail miserably. When repeatedly stupid things are said, Ralitza has a nasty habit of glaring at people. When she is in deep thought, Ralitza runs her fingers over her locket. Surprisingly, the continuous rubbing hasn't dulled the metal in any way.

Strengths:
Ralitza grew up to be a very protective individual. When she befriends someone, she devotes herself fully to him or her. Throughout her schooling years, she could be seen protecting the younger students from bullies and the like. She’d take it upon herself to make sure they were doing their work and successfully at that. Present day, Ralitza is very protective of her friends. She holds them close to her heart and finds it hard to let them go. She’s protective of her memories, cherishing them with all of her might. Ralitza’s photographs are some of her most prized possessions and ones that she finds difficult to let anybody see. They stay latched up in a small trunk under her bed and she rotates the ageing pictures of her daughter each year in and out of her locket.

Ralitza is very responsible and puts forth a lot of effort into whatever she wishes to accomplish. She can get the job done quickly and accurately. She is knowledgeable and knows when and where to put her knowledge to use. Her job is a perfect fit since Ralitza is very service-oriented and has a need to help others. Ralitza can be counted on and is very reliable. Her patients grow to trust her and her skills because of the way she carries herself. Ralitza is able to communicate with a variety of persons and she always has a way of finding some kind of parallel between herself and them.

Generally, Ralitza can be found in an upbeat kind of mood, which has had a tendency to draw people towards her. Be it her laugh or the way she speaks to others, her warm air is very appealing. Surrounding herself with countless numbers of people is what makes her feel safe, it’s her niche and such a setting helps to bring out her more playful side. That’s not to say that she is always playful. Ralitza knows when to be playful and whom to be playful with as much as she knows when to be serious and put on a more professional stature.

Commitments and relationships are important to her. It has been her dream since she was a little girl to have a solid family with children that seemed to multiply as the years rolled by. Given that her dreams were shattered, she’s learned to cope and reconcile her own personal conflict by carrying a more outgoing nature. Ralitza has both a horrible and yet a talented knack for remembering things of emotional importance to her. Anything that has caused her to experience and extreme of one emotion or the other will have made a mark in her memory somewhere.

Weaknesses:
There are some things that can just tear the poor woman apart. Harsh criticism is one of them. She isn’t fully capable of handling peoples’ complaints. If someone does start to badger her about something that she is doing wrong and they keep at her at a persistent rate, her emotions will likely take over and they could range anywhere from irritation to cowering to her actually acting out on her thoughts of revenge. Of course, whatever she does will be well thought out unless her emotions are varying from extremes (which wouldn’t be an odd occurrence).

Something inside of her prevents her from facing conflicts. She didn’t mention her finding of the Death Eater mask in Radoslav’s desk drawer, she didn’t mention her pregnancy to him until it came into the light by accident, she didn’t want to be a part of her child’s life knowing that Corina would remind her so much of her true love. Ralitza just veers away from anything that holds any kind of conflict for her. She tends to bottle it up and that bottle could either slowly empty or burst out without a warning.

Ralitza sometimes suffers from an inferiority complex. Too many complaints and conflicts can really start to have an effect on her. She’s only really experienced it during the time surrounding the birth of her baby girl. She felt so small and didn’t seem to be able to find herself fitting in anywhere in the world. She had hopes of giving up and accepting the darkness that seemed to be approaching her at an alarming rate. Ralitza has her weak moments. Her emotions cause her to overreact and as such make things harder than they should be.

She does have a way with guilt manipulation. And though she won’t admit it, she may or may not have used this tact on Traian in her more recent years. Ralitza knew he still held feelings for her, it was she who left him afterall, and Traian was the first person that Ralitza ran to when she felt as though her life were going down a never-ending spiral. Rali kept blaming herself for being too naïve too immature too blind sighted to even see that the relationship she was in was unstable and full of lies. Her guilt was shoved onto Traian and poor Ralitza got a friend who cared for her to take her in and build her back up.

Tatyana Ivanova; 42 years old; Squib; Raising Corina.
Background Story:

     Childhood

Rali was an active child and although her parents provided her with anything and everything they could to keep their little girl happy, she still always thought her sister had it better. She was quick to being jealous during a few moments of her childhood, always wanting the toy that Tatyana had or dancing around with a toy that she knew Tatyana wanted. This was most likely when the two girl's unspoken competition began. Ralitza enjoyed being the better child at anything that she could, and so emerging her nose behind books at a young age and pretending to read the pages with long words made her feel better, even if everyone else knew that she had no idea what any of the words meant. It was the fact that instead of being outside and dirty and disgusting like Tatyana would be, Ralitza was inside, being a polite little girl and scowling at her sister as she left mud tracks on their families lovely wooden floor.

Ralitza wasn't always a competitive girl, mostly when it came to Tatyana's unspoken challenges. Around other people, Ralitza was as chipper as could be. She developed her manners and never let them escape her, which often times left people thinking that she was a year or so older than she really was. She would typically sport a nice dress or other garment that her parents found suiting for a young girl of her age. She wasn't a very talkative child while being exposed to other people but when she was home she had a tendency to scream very loudly. This would generally happen when things didn't go her way or if Tatyana was making her extremely mad. It was almost like two different sides to Ralitza; the calm, cool, collected young girl who always tried to make a remarkable first impression on her elders and then there was the competitive, angry, jealous young girl who always tried to one up her sister in whatever means possible.

It was more often than not that Ralitza would end up losing to her sister in whatever challenge they chose to take part in. All of her losses ended in her reading or practicing something doubly as much as she had before until she would finally be able to beat her sister. She became very hardworking and very informed for a girl of her ripe age. Rali was a bit quicker with her tongue because of these moments with her sister. Her need to always get the last word when in a fight always seemed to help in her getting in more trouble than Tatyana since she was the one being caught in the act. When evidence of her magic began to show through her thick skin, Ralitza knew she had won. After all of the years of her being second best to Tatyana, a nine-year-old Rali had finally won.

Rali's reaction to such a finding wasn't as many people might have expected. She didn't run around flaunting her magical abilities in front of her sister. She didn't torment or tease or challenge Tatyana as much either. If anything, Ralitza was a bit sad. This only meant that the competitions wouldn't be fair, for one thing. For another, it meant that she'd eventually end up not being around her sister for copious amounts of time. Instead of being sent to the same tiny school building that the Ivanova girls had attended for years, Ralitza knew she had to find a school that suited her new needs. She no longer wanted to learn simple things like reading and writing, Ralitza wanted to learn to hone her blossoming skills. No one else in her school seemed to possess any of the skills that tiny Ralitza was beginning to exhibit. Rali was a child that frequently looked into the possibilities of her future. And inevitably, when she found out that she did possess magical abilities, she was off and running with ideas for careers but first came the idea of schooling.

She didn't want to be at home learning from her silly parents who had decided to dumb themselves down to Muggles; after discovering her abilities, she didn't understand why anyone would want to not possess these skills... these... powers. It took a lot of convincing on Ralitza's part to get her parents to allow her to attend Durmstrang. She never once mentioned to them that she didn't want to stay at home and learn about magic in front of Tatyana. Deep, deep down, Rali wanted to distance herself from everyone. Ever since Ralitza had chosen to show her best friend a bit of her powers (by accident), Ralitza was made an outcast. Rali's friend looked at Rali as if she were some sort of alien, some kind of freak. The next day at school, Tatyana had found out about the rumors centering on Ralitza and Tatyana walked her sister back home. It was after this incident, one that ended in Ralitza crying for hours, that she didn't want to show off anymore. She just wanted to leave. If her parents wanted to blend in with the Muggles, they could. And they could do it better with a Squib in their presence. It was this argument, minus the blunt 'Squib' statement, that won them over. That, and her expressed interest in learning abroad along with the fact that she’d have the ability to meet people from different walks of life.

Ralitza won again. This time against her parents.

     Durmstrang Years

Ralitza got to Durmstrang and found the place to be a little intimidating. The petite Drakonya Krov kept to herself by remaining quiet and observing everyone that she passed by in an attempt to figure out the culture of the school. Should she go up and talk to people or not? Ralitza studied peoples’ behaviors and filtered out a few whom she thought she could get along with. It wasn’t too much longer that she had the pleasure and luck of meeting a boy in her year and house, Traian, who backed Ralitza up when things were starting to get a little rough for the girl. Ralitza was beginning to doubt herself and her skills since she was struggling in Defense and Dueling. This, in turn, sparked the period in her life when Ralitza began to try to please everyone in order to form some kind of relationship. She buried her nose in books and confided immensely in Traian who was soon to become her rock and the person she felt most comfortable around. They often went on walks with no purpose and with no words. They left each other after their first year and Ralitza could be found in the summer months writing and re-writing letters to the boy. Needless to say, she was beginning to miss being at school with him.

Her second year started out to be a great deal better than her first. She knew she could rely on at least someone (Traian) and she soon befriended many other boys to Traian’s dislike. Rali was his, at least in his mind. But Rali was soon finding that other boys were appealing to her more and more as well. She couldn’t forget the younger students for whom she wanted to have a positive impact for in their first year. Ralitza felt a hidden urge to nurture and tame the few that clung on to her over their first few months of schooling. Ralitza was a twelve-year-old nanny, so to speak, and she made sure that everyone was getting his or her work done. Meanwhile, she, in turn, was losing a bit of contact with the boy that had been her shield during her first year of schooling. Traian had made the Quidditch team, and though he had tried in many efforts to persuade Ralitza to join, his efforts never ended in the girl signing up. The boy's constant prodding did lead to one thing though. That one thing being Ralitza's conquered of her fear of heights through the trips around the Pitch on a broomstick as Traian flew alongside her. He was her best friend and the one person she knew she trusted. He was adventurous and yet gentle. Traian was her miniature prince, but even so, she still wouldn't abandon the kids for Quidditch though, not yet at least.

Third year came and the summer prior, Traian and Ralitza kept in touch, though not as frequently as before. Once again, Rali befriended those newest to Durmstrang and sought to offer them any kind of aid that she could. This, however, was the year that her buried competitive side seemed to shine through. A girl in the house opposite of hers, Yuliya, was trying to one up Ralitza in Melioration (one of her better subjects if she may say). It was in that particular class that the Ralitza acted slowly, meticulously and vengefully. She didn't partner up with Yuliya; it'd be too obvious. Instead, Ralitza took a seat a decent distance away. It was during a lesson involving antidotes and Ralitza swiftly, smoothly, stealthily switched Yuliya's correct antidote with one that caused her far worse consequences. The professor never found out who had been behind the mixing up of antidotes since Rali, being as polite and quiet as she was, just couldn't have been the culprit. Getting away with that bit of revenge was about the extent of excitement for her third year at Durmstrang. Ralitza returned home and together with her sister terrorized her parents. It was the time in Ralitza's life that "womanhood" had finally caught up to her and quite frankly, she did not enjoy it.

Returning back to Durmstrang for her fourth year, Ralitza was greeted rather warmly by the boy who had yet to succeed in getting her to try out for the team. A hug and a peck on the cheek and it was the first time that Ralitza really blushed. Damned womanhood was the only thing she could blame. The year progressed and little did Ralitza know that the girl who had been her victim the previous year was now on Klyk Vampira’s team. Another effort was made by Traian and Ralitza couldn't resist. She had befriended a few younger students again and asked them to tell her if they were having any problems with anyone older because if her tactics for revenge would suit her right, she'd be able to avenge the kiddies through Quidditch. This was the year that Ralitza made her house's reserve team, at first, as a Beater. Soon enough she was moved onto the first string. For she had enough fire in her to keep all of Durmstrang lit. It was either avenging underclassman or her perfect aim for that slimy Seeker girl, Yuliya, that she soon developed an unspoken competition with. Game on.

Again, Ralitza returned home and wrote to the boy. This time though, she received a threatening owl from the girl who was beginning to put all of the pieces of Ralitza's silent puzzle together. Yuliya finally realized who the person was behind her horrid attack years earlier. The unspoken competition was now brought to the table and the Quidditch matches that followed during Ralitza's fifth year were full of malice and anger that could only be released in such a way as Quidditch. Off the Pitch, Ralitza resumed her calm and collected composure. Tending to the newest arrivals and keeping in touch with the others she had "adopted" over the years. Many underclassmen looked to Rali for help and with whatever spare time she could manage, she used it to help in any way that she could. Ralitza’s studies were of another importance. She stayed on top as much as she could in her classes. Getting average or above in each class. Even with all of her studying, she found herself placing her needs behind others. Rali loved to see others succeed. Her fifth year was also to be the year that she experienced her first "relationship" with none other than her protector over the years, Traian. The boy and Ralitza were inseparable to begin with and this just added to their glued together status. They were not public with it; rather they were a bit more reserved together. After two months, it ended. Once Ralitza saw that the boy was, along with his friends, tormenting younger students. She had stepped in, her tiny feet clacking themselves against the hard-topped floor as her delicate frame lined with hidden muscle stood before Traian who had nearly half of a foot on her height-wise. She left him with a brief "How dare you..." before turning on her heels and scooping up the kids and walking them back to safety. Traian had definitely committed a negative in Rali's eyes. There was a quiet argument that ended in streams of tears from Rali. For the first time she spent nearly all night sobbing into her pillow. She thought she knew him. She thought he was more mature, kinder than to do something like that. She broke off ties with the boy and didn't speak to him unless absolutely necessary to for the rest of the school year.

That summer, Ralitza received a feeble amount of letters from Traian, all of which asked for her forgiveness. She was a stubborn girl though and not one to forget what she had seen just months ago. The younger students were her friends and being as loyal as she was, Ralitza could not just let the tormenting continue any further. She couldn't understand why he thought he could get forgiveness from her. Eventually, she had to forgive him. Or at least that's what her mindset was at that time. Having proven him to be freed of his child-tormenting habits in the earlier months by breaking up a small fight in a corridor, Traian and Rali were back on speaking terms. A few weeks later, Traian sacrificed himself (as a Chaser) so that Ralitza's head wouldn't get taken off from behind by a nicely hit Bludger. He was hospitalized and Ralitza vowed to herself that she would help mend him back to his full health for his kindness, by helping whomever the Nursing staff was. She was Traian’s mini-Healer for a day or two before he started functioning better. And he claimed it was because of Ralitza’s quick little tear-filled kiss of an apology and thanks all mixed in one. But it was a kiss that he claimed held all the healing power that he needed. The two were back together once more and talk of her future was the only thing on her mind. She thought she could change the world one person at a time thanks to the boy's claim of her curing kiss. She realized, thanks to Traian, that she was meant to help others. She was meant to help nurse them back to their fullest potential. Ralitza knew that she had the skills, the brains, and the dedication to take her desire to the next level, reality. During her sixth year, the competitive Beater buried her nose back in books (most of which consisted of jobs dealing with Healing and the sort). Her challenge with the Seeker, Yuliya, for the other house was nearing its end point but that didn't keep Ralitza from being exposed to one of the girl's attempts at poisoning Ralitza. Luckily, Rali being as knowledgeable as she was, she was quickly able to find an antidote and to further hex the girl in the hallway after class. She was scolded by a professor who witnessed it, but then silently rewarded with the mouthed words of "Well done." It would be these two words that would drive her for the rest of her life.

She loved to hear those words and it seemed she only heard them in her most favored classes: Melioration, Dark Flora and Fauna and Enchantements and Bans. Returning back for her seventh year, it was at least once a week that Rali heard the words "Well done." Be it from student or professor (most likely another student and even more likely that that student was Traian). Her last and final year at Durmstrang was Rali's most successful year. She befriended younger students once more and took a particular liking to a younger first year girl, Varvara, whom Ralitza adored. The girl was quiet and Ralitza tried to break Varya out of her shell. Within the first few weeks Ralitza had succeeded. Rali’s Quidditch was the most accurate it had ever been this year and the competition between her and Yuliya was at its peek. Ralitza got the satisfaction of knocking the girl out but later had to tend to the girl out of regret. She ended up befriending Yuliya as well, finding that the two held similar wants and desires for their future; Healing. Rali and Traian held an unspoken bond that didn't seem to want to be broken and they spent hours together save for the times that Ralitza spent studying, surprisingly, with Yuliya for the next several months. The two girls passed all necessary classes with high marks, Rali's highest being her favorite three. And when Ralitza set foot out of Durmstrang territory at the end of the year, the owls she received and sent were to and from Traian, Varya, and Yuliya.

     More Schooling

The two girls, Ralitza and Yuliya, had made plans to set out for Mediwitch training as soon as possible. They started off in a smaller hospital setting in Russia but after a few months of random animal bites or misused potions or damaging spells, Ralitza was yearning to learn more. To be exposed to something greater than just this small hospital in her home country. For the next several months, as she suffered in the confines of that same dreadful hospital, Ralitza took a class on English from a traveling professor who just so happened to be a wizard. She had heard wonderful things about Britain's St. Mungos. This was to be her new goal; get to St. Mungos.

About six months later, the fresh-out-of-school girl whose dedication kept her from having an end-of-school-party-summer instead she spent her days burying herself in extra amounts of schoolbooks. She wanted to be a Healer, fast. The quickest route she saw was getting a chance to go to St. Mungos and lo and behold the girl finally got her chance. It was a process of applying, making sure her English was in tact, interviewing, and testing into Britain's mediwizard program. Four months of Ralitza's running to the mailroom to see if she had received an owl from the competitive program was soon pulling Rali's hopes into darkness. She knew it would take long to hear from them, but not this long. Two weeks after her excited running ceased, she finally got a letter. Skimming through the nonsense words, Ralitza was only looking for four; "You have been accepted."

Jackpot! “Ralitza Ivanova. We are proud to inform you that you have been accepted into the Mediwizard and Mediwitch training program here at St. Mungos Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries. We are excited to see you back here on September 1st. Sincerely, St. Mungos Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries Staff" Being as emotional as Ralitza was, her face filled with tears as shoved the letter into Yuliya's hands. The two girls began jumping around each other embracing each other in tight grips, and screaming quite a bit for being in a hospital setting. Their director had to come in and shut them up. After the old bloke left, the two girls looked at each other and produced a silent scream. Rali was the happiest she had ever been.

She survived the following months leading up until her arrival at St. Mungos Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries by preoccupying herself in the childrens' wards where they had been bitten by something or where they had been playing with a cursed toy. She attached herself to many of the children and found it difficult to leave them on August 25th. An elongated good-bye was extended and Ralitza made sure to embrace every single person she had ever talked to, including her crazed director who was still a little fumed that Ralitza was leaving him. She was an extraordinary assistant. A good-bye to her family and a promise to return at some point and Ralitza was gone. Her trunk in hand (though it was extremely light as she anticipated purchasing new robes to correspond to those being worn at St. Mungos) and her spirits high, Ralitza found herself at the steps of what appeared to be "The Leaky Cauldron". It would be new home for the next few weeks until she found a more suitable residence.

Booking her room in The Leaky Cauldron for the next two weeks, Ralitza’s anxious side needed to be fed off of more than the lovely scenic view of the Muggle streets of London. She had nothing against Muggles really, considering her relationship with someone who ended up being one (Tatyana). She just didn’t understand how Muggles functioned without magic and because of this misunderstanding, Ralitza often found herself in a nearby Muggle library reading up on ways that medicinal Muggles helped to cure diseases without any magic. What she found was rather awe-inspiring.

One week to go and there was an orientation that required Ralitza’s attendance. She arrived early in an attempt to make a decent impression, Rali fumbled around with her English as she tried to make simple small talk with a few other prospective students. Already the young woman was developing another unspoken competition with someone, another girl believe it or not, who was down-talking foreign students. Ralitza didn’t speak a word. Instead she digested all the words that came from the high maintenance girl. Rali hoped that she would be avoiding the girl, whose name she found out to be Elen, in the future but fate had it that the two were to be in the same training group. And so the mostly talkative Ralitza was forced, by her own doing, to remain silent during the walk through of the hospital. She memorized as much as she could: names, turns, patients, paintings, etc.

There was a lunch break offered to the students, and who was Rali to turn down a free meal? Granted, she didn’t eat much and chose to sit as far away from that babbling Elen as she could. And just as she was about to take her first bite of her salad, a group of three men and a woman sat down. All were chattering in perfectly fluent English. Two in the group were blond the others were different shades of brunette. The woman in the group was quite a bit taller than the petite Bulgarian sitting across from her and then men varied from tall to small. One man from the group stood out to her, Murtagh, who seemed the friendliest of the bunch. It wasn’t long till Ralitza was beckoned into speaking. Having sat silently nibbling on her greens, the others focused all of their attention on her. Murtagh adored her heavy accent and thankfully could make out the words that she was piecing together. Murtagh complemented Ralitza’s English skills thus far and further offered to help her understand it a bit more after he cooed a lovely “Well done” in her direction.

It was with Murtagh that Rali train with at St. Mungos for the next few years of her life. And of course the addition of the foreign hater woman just had to be added. So when the small group was brought around to do their clinicals with Healers, it was another unspoken battle of brainpower between Ralitza and Elen. Murtagh was always in the background offering his verbal support for Rali, whether the Healer on hand appreciated the verbal support or not couldn’t be told. Ralitza, at first, never found herself winning any brownie points with her instructor since finding the words in English was slow for her. As time passed, she was soon dishing out answers left and right. Her ranking was updated less than two years later as a junior assistant to one of the Healers in the fourth floor for spell damage. She owled Yuliya, Traian, and Varvara immediately upon finding out and dots of dried tears could be found on the letters. Ralitza had won again.

But with the good comes the bad. Elen was full of jealousy, as Ralitza had beaten Elen out of her desired position. The position was one that the students had been forewarned that only one person in their group would be awarded a higher ranking within the next two to three years. Lunch breaks for the Bulgarian woman were soon becoming a time of humor since Ralitza had found out that Elen was threatening to poison Rali's food should Rali try and one up her again. Rali found it to be rather amusing; did this woman not know where Rali went to school? What Ralitza dealt with as opposed to the sanctuary that is Hogwarts? No. Elen had no idea. But Ralitza let the woman her. It was a strange happening as one day Ralitza was talking with Murtagh about how naive Elen was to think that Ralitza wouldn't be able to counterattack should poison be Elen’s choice. Within the next few days, the girl was transferred to another ward, per request of Elen herself, and Ralitza was able to work in silence. She kept more towards the children's section of the spell damage ward, finding them to be a bit more brightening to her day than say... an old man. This method of thinking was soon to change though.

She was about twenty-two, a senior assistant in the spell damage ward nearing the time when she had hope to be promoted to Healer. She had made a few friends with her patients who often times called her into their rooms just to hear her talk with her thinning accent. She'd tell them stories of folklore and the like, even sometimes tales of the crazy methods Muggles would have used on them. Ralitza always made time for her kids (her kids being the children in the ward) because she held a deep connection with each one. It seemed inevitable that these children would lose their struggling battle between life and death and each time a child lost to death, Ralitza held her composure as best she could until she was out of peoples' sight. One day, as one of her children suffered brutally from a hex turned spreading rash that could eventually be fatal, Ralitza put on her happy face but once she turned the corner, a trail of tears could be found lining the ground behind her as she made her way down the hall. A commotion, however, made her hands reach up and dry her eyes as a bloodied body called out for someone's help as it collapsed on the lobby floor. At the time, the only person in sight was Ralitza.

Forgetting about the child for a moment, Rali raced forward and supported the man's weight as she led the man into a vacant room. Not much was said as to what had caused this man to lie motionless, all she knew was that his wounds were deep and his blood loss was extreme. Ralitza cried out for other Healers to help her as she began to cleanse the man’s open wounds. As other Healers arrived, the questioned Rali about the situation and it was for the first time that they treated Rali as an equal. They didn’t talk down to her; they spoke to her as if she were one of them. As if she were a Healer. Wanting to help the poor man, Ralitza made it her duty (or rather fate played a larger a role) to care for the man until he was back to good health. A few days passed and still the man had not woken; either by choice or because his body was still recovering Ralitza didn't know. One day, as she was tending to his room, checking his vital signs and giving him a routine x-raying with her wand pointing at his cervical spine, Ralitza was met with a sudden lunging hand that wrapped its way tightly around her neck. Instinct dying and fear kicking in, Ralitza cursed at the man in her native tongue as much as she could through the bits of breath she was able to inhale. Feeling her blood pulsating through the veins and arteries of her head and chest, Ralitza knew that reacting with her wand would only encourage the man and so she let hers drop to the floor with a light tapping noise. Her now freed hands began to tug at the man's hands around her neck until he finally let go and gave her a quizzical look. A look that made Ralitza respond with a quick round of curses at the man in Bulgarian once more, saying things along the lines of his being impolite.

As she busied herself in gathering up her wand, she was surprised to find that the man suddenly asked her where he was... in Bulgarian. She shot straight up; all the color had drained out of her face as she felt like a huge club had just hit her in the gut. She responded, still a bit shocked, by telling the man that he was at St. Mungos. Ralitza wrapped her arm around the man's shoulders and tried to get him to lie back down as slowly and as gently as she could. She gave a soft fluffing of his pillow before tugging on the man's blanket and pulling it up a bit more over his torso. Feeling as though things were adjusted to near perfection, Rali stopped and studied the man lying in front of her as she milled around her mind for anything else she ought to tell him. After a brief pause, she informed him that he was badly injured and there were a few deep wounds that caused a lot of blood loss. She tried to keep it on a professional level and so she informed him of his recovery status (which was nearing the end of the beginning stages now) and then snuck in an apology. As she waited for any kind of response, she couldn't help but think that this impolite man had actually brightened up her day with his small dosage of something familiar and comforting, her native language. Ralitza was tempted to stay in his room, to ask him where he was from, why he was in London, who he was, and anything else that came to mind. As it were, the man needed to recover. Rali left him with her apology and a small smile before she made her way back to the break room to put the place into use for what it was good for; taking breaks.

Over the next few days, Ralitza kept getting requests from actual Healers to accompany them to "The Foreign Man's Room" so that she could translate. It was Rali's fault for spilling the beans that she could in fact understand what the man was babbling on about, that what he was saying was actually a real language and not just a few random letters thrown together. Naïve Englishmen. Her first visit consisted of her walking into the room just as she was tying up her chocolate brown hair and just as The Foreign Man remaining oddly silent. The Healers squeezed Ralitza through the door first, almost as if they were in fear for what might happen should they be the ones entering first. She found it all to be nearly immature though as the men cowered along behind her. Again Rali offered the foreign man a, this time forced, smile and suddenly her rush of questions stacked up in her brain. Rali made her way over to his bed all the while telling the man to keep his mouth shut because any excess movement in his abdominal region could worsen his already bad situation. She forcefully reached for his arm so that she could record his blood pressure, or at least look like she was. While she was finding the man's pulse in his wrist, Rali looked up and quietly introduced herself as Ralitza. Was it too much to expect the man to reply with his name? Apparently, in this case, it was. Or that was what Ralitza thought until the man finally introduced himself as Radoslav.

The Healers, seeing that the man was calmer than usual, began asking Rali to ask the man questions about the events that had occurred at the time of his arrival at St. Mungos. Instead Rali put her own spin on it, nicknaming the Healers according to their hair or their weird English accents. As she did all the small tasking work, Rali forwarded Radoslav the questions in a bored kind of tone which he apparently caught on to as his answers were being dressed in sort of sarcastic humor than made Rali have to try and not let out a little bit of laughter. These encounters continued for a few more days and one day ended in her actually letting out a serious laugh at one of Radoslavs dry comments. The man was obviously starting to grow on Ralitza, for whatever reason, and at the time Rali would find herself walking down the corridor that Radoslav's room was in just so that she could pass by and pretend to have been asked to check up on him. She would walk in and check up on his wounds that were, sadly, improing each day. Ralitza would then ask him a question, something random, just so that she could hear his deep voice speak the language that she loved and knew inside and out. These times spent with Radoslav usually were spent with Ralitza doing most of the talking since Radoslav seemed to be highly interested in her job and her schooling and he even went so far as to ask her what house she was in at Durmstrang, which she proudly answered with a solid "Drakonya Krov."

As these sneaking in sessions of Ralitza's continued, she was beginning to grow fonder of the once impolite man. His dry humor was actually very amusing to Rali and the fact that the two could carry on their own conversations outside of her just forwarding questions to the man as he was being worked on was a bit amusing as well. As Ralitza was sent to clean Radoslav's wounds for the day by the Head Healer of her department, her ears caught hold of the beginning of a conversation that made an excitement in her well up to her cheeks causing them to redden. She nearly ran all the way to Radoslav's room, just to tell him the news. Rounding her way inside, she couldn't help herself and gave the man hug. Backing away, she was smiling and then told him the news. Ralitza had heard the Head Healer informing another Healer that Ralitza was going to be receiving her own title as a Healer. No longer a Junior Assistant. And it was all because of her tending to and successfully treating Radoslav and others. She had her wand pointing at the once largest wound on Radoslav's abdomen and when she finished she let out a soft sigh. "It looks like my work here is done."

Unraveling the wraps around Radoslav's healed wound, Ralitza tossed the bandages into the trashcan before returning to his bedside. Her eyes lingered on the scarring skin and she couldn't help but softly run her hand below it. She stopped and looked up to Radoslav before asking if it still hurt and just as she did a group of people entered the room, one of them was a woman talking loudly about Radoslav, and Ralitza immediately lifted her hand. She busied it by playing with her tied up hair and she slowly took a few steps back from Radoslav's bed. Rali offered up the best smile that she could at the time, considering she was startled out of her wits. She politely pardoned herself and bid Radoslav well until she was cut off mid-sentence by the loud woman who beckoned Ralitza back inside. The woman introduced herself as Larisa, Radoslav’s sister, and soon turned to reveal a small boy on her hip whom Larisa introduced as Sacha. Ralitza held out a hand to introduce herself, a quiet voice ready to emit her name, that is until she was suddenly pulled into a hug with Larisa’s free arm. Larisa began completing Ralitza’s skills; assuming it was all Ralitza’s doing that Radoslav was better. It was but Rali wasn’t one for swimming in that big of a complement. Rali stayed with Radoslav’s family and answered questions until her saliva glands chose to stop working. She used it as an excuse to pardon herself from the room for a drink of water. Bidding everyone a final farewell, Ralitza couldn’t help but smile all the way to the breakroom.

Beginning Stages of a New Life

A few days passed and she was officially informed of her graduation from the program and status as a Healer. A few more days passed and Radoslav was released from St. Mungos and Ralitza took it upon herself to help him gather all of his belongings. Just as Radoslav was leaving, Ralitza quickly piped up and asked him to go to her graduation. Realizing that he was at first hesitant, Rali played the guilt card by saying that it would mean a lot if he did show up and that she would really love to see him there. Apparently it had worked because in a week’s time, as Rali walked onto the stage in her new St. Mungos robes, Radoslav was easy to spot. She smiled at him and gave a small tickle of a wave to him before leaving the stage. After the ceremony, she quickly found Radoslav and asked him how he was feeling and how things were now that he was free from his confines. There were plenty more questions in the back of her mind but those could wait. She had a slight feeling that there would be more encounters between the two. Radoslav’s answers were short and to the point, what she expected really. And just as quickly as Rali had seen him, Radoslav was leaving. He did, however, answer her last question. Her mouth spoke before she realized how embarrassing it could have been. Asking if she could owl him turned out to… not be as embarrassing as she might have anticipated. Radoslav accepted and left a smiling Ralitza who was soon gathered in the arms of Murtagh.

Months passed and owl after owl was sent to Radoslav. Sometimes lengthy and sometimes simple letters being sent his way. The letters slowly progressed to days when a recovered Radoslav happily surprised Ralitza by taking stealing her away for a quick lunch or dinner. Other times she’d come into work to find a bouquet of assorted flowers, most of the time there would be a bouquet of the reddest roses (being her favorite flower) that Ralitza had ever seen, along with a quaint note that would leave her smiling for the rest of the day. After a month into the letters and surprises, Ralitza was surprised to receive a letter from “Radoslav” inviting Ralitza over for dinner one night. The address was given to her and so Ralitza didn’t need much time to think before she decided to attend Radoslav’s request. Arriving at the Estate, Ralitza gave a soft knock at the door that was only to be opened by a surprised Radoslav. He invited her inside and she couldn’t help but continually smile as she began to take in every detail of the Estate. Soon enough, Larisa came bounding in to take Rali’s cloak. Ralitza turned to face Radoslav who was about to ask what Ralitza was doing there, that is until Larisa swept in and dragged Ralitza towards the dining room, giving Radoslav a wink as she did such. Larisa had found Radoslav’s letters to Ralitza and had taken it upon herself to invite the “Dear” over. Ralitza stayed quiet during dinner, adding in a laugh or two as the family interacted at the table. After dinner, Radoslav asked Ralitza to accompany him around the grounds so that she could see a bit more of the Estate. She accepted.

The pair set off into the moonlit night, silence seemed to be their best friend for a while until Ralitza started talking about her childhood and the moonlit nights that had accompanied her at home. It was her means of breaking the silence and it was successful at that. Soon the two were learning more and more about each other. Ralitza was becoming ever more entranced by the gentleman that accompanied her. Radoslav was gentle, polite, courteous, and everything Ralitza had ever looked for and hoped for in a man. Or at least that was what was going through her mind throughout the entirety of the night. The two reached the pond and Ralitza gave Radoslav’s hand a soft tug. Looking at his hand, she worked her own smaller, more delicate fingers through his before she turned to look back up and into his eyes. Her decision was made a long time ago if ever she should encounter a moment such as this. Ralitza lifted herself up on her toes and pressed her lips onto Radoslav’s. Her free hand had made its way behind Radoslav’s neck as she let her fingers softly run themselves through the bottom of his hair. Ralitza slowly pulled away, her eyes still shut and her body lowering itself to her normal height. Just as she was about to succumb to the silence, she was pulled in by Radoslav and the night turned out to be one that would change the rest of her life.

Again, weeks passed with Radoslav’s surprises for the new Healer who was lost in a pool of infatuation for the man. He treated her wonderfully and at times Ralitza was afraid that it was only a dream. She had only to wait until the next day to find that it all was, in fact, real. It was nearing about three months since the two “lovebirds” (so affectionately dubbed by Larisa unknowingly to Ralitza at the time) had been owling and spending time together. Ralitza sent Radoslav a letter asking him to be her acquaintance to a banquet being held by St. Mungos for all of its workers. In a few days’ time, Ralitza was met with a handsome man who was to accompany her for the night. Ralitza lead Radoslav around, introducing him to this person and that person and all the while her mind was fighting over what to say to people. Were they together yet? Or perhaps just friends? Ralitza introduced Radoslav by his name until one of her bosses came by wanting to be introduced to her “date.” The word alone made Ralitza flush and she fumbled over an accurate response. “This is Rado-… my er-… Radoslav.” Her eyes flickered from Radoslav to her co-worker and as they departed, she gave a soft laugh before quietly saying, “… my Rado.” in a playful tone. She lead her Rado to the dance floor and was happily surprised to find that Radoslav was very good on his feet. It was constant smiles and laughs between the two and at the end of the night, they separated with a prolonged kiss. One that was just as passionate, just as moving as the one experienced by the pond on that lovely moonlit night. Ralitza’s heart was all a-flutter as she flung herself against the door, her hand clenched and resting upon her chest. A wonderful night indeed.

After that night at the banquet, the two were nearly inseparable. Ralitza loved spending time with Rado and she hoped and could tell that it was a mutual feeling. They got along and complemented each other’s greatest aspects. She soon asked Radoslav to meet her own family, an invitation he accepted. It was a quick meeting since Ralitza hadn’t been very close with them ever since her move to London for school, but it was a monumental occasion all the same. Especially since Radoslav and Tatyana seemed to be anything but on good terms with one another. The same could be said for Radoslav and Ralitza’s parents. Radoslav remained polite throughout the encounter but Ralitza could sense his extra terse answers to any questions sent in his direction. Returning home, Rali left Radoslav with a polite peck on his cheek before retiring to her apartment. Her thoughts were battling again but this time it was over whether or not she should ask him up. Was she ready? Were they ready for that step? Was that even the next step? She turned and flung open the door only to find the premises deserted. Ralitza wasn’t sure if she was pleased or saddened by this but she knew that things would come in due time.

Three months passed after the night of the banquet and Ralitza was positively certain that she was in love. One perfect night, Radoslav had asked Ralitza to accompany him to an elegant restaurant and who was she to turn him down? They met beforehand at Ralitza’s apartment and Radoslav commented on her beauty that only made Ralitza’s heart flutter that much more around the man. Reaching the restaurant, the two sat at a wonderful table. They were served spectacular drinks (Ralitza had requested vodka and not wine). The pair looked marvelous together. They interacted as every “couple” does. The couple left the restaurant well fed and in happy spirits as they made their way back to Ralitza’s apartment. She asked him to come inside, an invitation he accepted. What happened next was rather unexpected. As Ralitza poured a pair of glasses for drinks, she handed one off to Radoslav who had taken to sitting in silence for the moment. Rali took a sip from her glass and asked what was on his mind. The answer she got wasn’t what she was anticipating. Had he just asked her to move in with him? Her reaction was quick: she set her glass down and nearly pounced on top of Radoslav, smothering him in one of the most overjoyed kisses she could produce. Ralitza didn’t say a word. Her actions spoke louder and quicker for that matter.

The pair moved in together. Ralitza was quickly accepted into their family and she loved every minute she spent with them. Larisa finally admitted to Ralitza about the letter on that memorable night and Ralitza couldn’t have loved Larisa any more for that act. Radoslav and Ralitza were the perfect pair. They didn’t ever seem to get sick of each other and they always found time for each other. Ralitza absolutely loved being able to fall asleep next to Radoslav. It was everything she could have asked for. She felt safe and secure in his arms and soon she was seeing how she was made for him and he for her. His hands were perfect for hers and her lips perfect for his. Everything was… perfect.

Almost three months after moving in together, Radoslav was asking Ralitza to prepare for another elegant night. She was planning what to wear the entire day, passing ideas to her patients who were more than happy to answer in complete honesty. Ralitza settled on her burgundy dress for the night’s activities since it won over nine of the twelve patients she asked. Returning home, the two readied themselves and the night was turning out to be another perfect night all over again. Perfect booth, drinks, food, weather, everything! What made it all better was that Radoslav had actually paid attention when Ralitza said that her favorite desert was red velvet cake. A slice of the cake was set in front of her and one in front of Rado. There was a simple rose on hers and as she lifted her fork to take her first bite, a small ringing sounded from below her; her fork had fallen onto the plate. Ralitza’s eyes weren’t leaving her piece of cake as they were caught on a shiny little something wrapping itself around the stem of the icing-ed rose. Her lips had slightly parted but it wasn’t long before they produced a smile that stretched from cheek to cheek. She turned to face Radoslav and gave him a tighter than tight hug before pressing her lips against his once more. Once again, it was a moment where her actions spoke louder than her words could ever do.

     A Slow Depression

The next few months were a blur of happiness. The pair were engaged and Ralitza couldn’t have been happier! They saw Quidditch matches together, which showed Radoslav a bit of her more feisty side, they went to zoos, to concerts, to plays, to everything together. It was like they couldn’t get enough of each other. Soon they were wed and Ralitza was happy to call herself “Ralitza Dimitrova” since she thought it had a nice ring to it. Ralitza eventually left St. Mungos after a long and pleasant affair with them. But, the time had come and an opportunity awaited her back in Russia at a hospital smaller than St. Mungos and yet larger than the one she had started out in. She owled her three friends, no she hadn’t forgotten about them over the years, but finding a convenient time to meet up with them was very difficult. Ralitza’s hours varied as did theirs so a meeting would have to wait.

She had an opportunity to meet up with Yuliya though, had she actually known that Radoslav would be persistent in leaving so quickly on a Friday night. Ralitza lay in bed, awaiting his company as she flipped through pages of a romance novel she had been given by a lady at work. When she saw that Rado hadn’t changed out of his robes, Rali’s investigative instincts started to play out. “Where are you going?” A silence followed as the man busied himself by looking for something but Ralitza wasn’t about to let the man off that easily. “Where are you going, Rado?” He turned his head just a bit but enough so that Rali was able to catch hold of his saying something about work. Work? On a Friday night? That was preposterous. Ralitza didn’t believe him so the petite woman snapped her book shut and set it on her side table. She hopped out of the bed and made her way towards Radoslav, her own irritation building up inside of her since she knew he wasn’t telling her the whole truth. She reached out and wrapped her fingers tightly around his left forearm, tugging on it so as to get the man to at least look at her. Radoslav freed his arm from her grasp and shook her off, still not bothering to even look at Ralitza as he maneuvered his way out of the room and out of sight. Ralitza was infuriated! Her heart was pounding and her fists had taken to clenching themselves, nails digging into the pads of her palms as her mind milled over ways to find an answer for Radoslav’s action on that night. And then she started to worry. She fled off towards Radoslav’s study and flung open every single drawer and closet door, looking for something… anything that would help her in finding out what was going on with him. It was when she reached Radoslav’s desk drawer that her world came crashing down.

The drawer in question held piles upon piles of newspaper clippings of Death Eater raids and trials. What was he doing with those? Ralitza buried her tiny hands into the depths of the papers and rummaged around as neatly as she could until her eyes fell upon something that made her face blanche like it never had before. It was dark, eerie, and as she pulled it up and out of the drawer, her heart nearly stopped. It was a mask. Not just any mask, but the mask of the followers of the Dark Lord. She wanted to tear it up! Burn it! Anything to get it away! Make it all just go away! As it were, she let the horrid thing topple down and into its home in Radoslav’s desk as her face was soon showering itself in tears. She spent the rest of that night sobbing into her pillow after she locked away the drawer she had vowed never to touch again. Rali locked the door and then cried herself to sleep. She wanted to be alone. She felt… alone. Tomorrow was sure to come and it did. She awoke and played off the night’s events as if nothing had happened at all. Her speech a bit more like Radoslav’s though, short, curt, terse, and to the point. That night was the last night she had ever called Radoslav “Rado.”

Everything was going about as smoothly as it could, but Ralitza couldn’t help but let her thoughts tread upon those understood to be forbidden unto her; the thoughts of starting a complete family. For some reason, any time she brought up the possibility, the topic was quickly shot down and then changed. It didn’t offend her; she just figured that Radoslav wasn’t ready for that kind of devotion just yet. Fourteen months into their happy marriage Ralitza spent an entire morning deciding what to do, whom to tell. She was pregnant… and confused, both ecstatic and yet fearful. The first person that Ralitza spilled her secret to was Larisa, not the best choice but it was really a spur of the moment confession. Surprisingly, Larisa and Ralitza kept their mouths shut for months to follow. Between the two of them, they chattered about the size of her belly and how much it was growing. All the time wearing smiles and talking of what kinds of clothes and what kind of crib to buy. It would seem that all happiness should come to an end, and a few days later, it did.

Radoslav was returning home that night and Larisa had told Rali to relax and that she was spending way too much time on her feet outside of work. So Ralitza relaxed for a few hours before Radoslav’s arrival and when she heard him entering the front door, she shot up just so that she could be the first to greet him. It wasn’t anything different than any other day; it was just how Ralitza was. Everyone was seated for dinner and suddenly Ralitza wasn’t hungry. Instead she just toyed wither food, anxious to get Radoslav to herself once more. And then it happened. So quickly, so unexpectedly that Ralitza could have leapt across the table and hexed Larisa right then and there. “Rali, you have to eat something. You’re eating for two!” Rali turned to look at Radoslav who stopped eating for a second, as if it would help him better understand the words that were spoken. He slowly set down his utensils, dabbed his mouth, and pardoned himself with a curt, “Please excuse me, I think I just lost my appetite.” Ralitza was in shock. Should she move? Of course she should! And she did!

She jumped up out of her seat and followed the dull sounds coming from Radoslav’s own footsteps. Making her way into the room, she quietly shut the door behind her and observed a pacing Radoslav. He turned to face her and silence took over. Ralitza was about to get something out but Radoslav had beaten her to it. “I trusted you…” was all it for Rali’s knees to grow weak, her heart beat to quicken and the color from her face to drain. “I know.” She replied only to hear, “Then why?..” “I thought it would bring us closer together.” “But you knew I didn’t want a child” “It wasn’t an accident, Radoslav…” There wasn't any hesitation as Radoslav realized that the betrayal from Rali was no accident. A small sound resounded as a result from Radoslav’s hand making its way across Ralitza’s cheek. She was stunned, scared, and her emotions were uncontrollable. She pleaded as she cowered on the floor in a corner, letting her delicate fingers touch the area that had just been hit. It was a side of Radoslav that Ralitza had never seen. And even through her begging and waterfall of tears, Radoslav sent her out. He turned from her without a word and motioned towards the door. His actions were loud and clear and Rali sobbed as she lifted herself up and couldn’t help but run out of the room. Reaching the front door, she passed by the dining room and all guests saw a flash of color fly by, she apparated back to a place she knew she’d be cared for; home.

     The Recovery

Larisa gradually owled Ralitza all of her things, checking up on Rali who sent updates back in short responses. She was fine. Not perfect, or at least not anymore. Perfect died that night at the Dimitrov Estate. The night that her emotions got the best of her and she couldn’t to anything but obey the man she loved when he ordered her to leave with just a swift motion of his hand. And so Rali returned to her Stara Zagora home where she remained for the rest of her pregnancy. During the last month of Ralitza’s pregnancy, Tatyana returned to check in on her sister and to offer encouraging words. What Tatyana wasn’t expecting was what Ralitza had struggled over for the past few months. Ralitza asked her sister to take her child, take her child and raise it the best that she could until Ralitza was fully functional once again. Tatyana, at first, was hesitant. It was a huge decision and one that she had to be absolutely certain she could handle. Ralitza begged her sister and swore to come back for her baby when her grief subsided. Tatyana couldn’t say no to her sister, not then, not like that.

It was quick, the whole giving birth part. Painful, but quick. Ralitza cried, it was inevitable. Other than being held in her mother’s arms, the tiny baby girl got her first encounter with a teardrop as it rolled from Ralitza’s eyes, down her nose, and onto her baby’s cheek. The crying was a mixture of happiness and also of near distaste. It wasn’t that she didn’t love her child, by-golly she did, it was the fact that Radoslav didn’t want her. So, maybe instead the tears were out of pity? Maybe. The baby girl was passed on to Tatyana with a simple frown and her father’s surname. Ralitza didn’t see the child again.

Once she was out of the hospital, she was out of sight. Her newest job was abandoned and she owled Traian as quickly as she could. Within hours the two were together and Traian just held her as time moved by and Ralitza couldn’t help but further cry into Traian’s shoulder. As she calmed down, Traian told Ralitza to retrieve her child. Retrieve her baby and move in with him. It was what he had always wanted, and secretly Ralitza knew this. She told Traian that she couldn’t care for the child, she wasn’t fit enough, stable enough for that kind of a thing. He understood the hidden reason behind it all as well. The reasoning that as the child grew, Ralitza would inevitably see the child’s father shine through in some fashion.

Traian wouldn’t give up though; he hated to see Ralitza struggling. It was like flashbacks to their schooling years where he was her protector then and he would surely do it now. He didn’t really give Ralitza a choice; it was either live off of whatever she had and grieve or stay with Traian and grieve a bit less. The latter was chosen and Traian helped Ralitza make a home at his new residence in Romania. The only problem was that Ralitza didn’t know a lick of the language. For a few months, she didn’t care. Most of the people that she interacted with knew at least Russian, having gone to Durmstrang in their school years, and so conversations weren’t hard to have. It was when people from other countries began to appear that really got Ralitza into a bit of confusion. Traian spent his nights off from Dragon Keeping to help teach Ralitza some basic Romanian. A few more months passed and she was able to carry on a rough conversation in the language and soon Ralitza was getting out and about. Traian introduced her to a few of the other Dragon Keepers, some of which were much younger looking than Ralitza would have imagined.

Exposure to the reserve and a leak in her background led the owner of the reserve to confront Ralitza as she was playing with a brand new baby dragon. She couldn’t help but let herself become a little emotional at the sight of the tiny thing, a tiny thing that reminded her so much of the tiny thing she had once given life to. Tears had taken over again, though this time out of both sadness and happiness. As soon as she heard someone walking up from behind her, Rali wiped away her tears and tried her best at putting on a decent face. It was then that the owner offered Ralitza a job as the reserve’s Healer. It was an opportunity that she gladly accepted and rushed off to tell Traian of the news, though she had a feeling he might have known already.

She worked steadily at the reserve though people seemed to be careful enough not to mess around too much with the creatures. Every so often something severe would show up and she tended to it accordingly. A few more months passed and it was nearing the one year anniversary of something she’d been trying to avoid for a very long time, her baby’s birthday. Tatyana had sent letters to Ralitza, all of which Rali knew were updates on how the baby was doing. Rali, however, didn’t open up a single one. She was trying to recover and she knew that if she were to open the letters, recovery would be stalled. As the weeks approached, Ralitza prepared herself until the day came in February. Ralitza sat down, locking herself in her designated bedroom in Traian’s tiny home. She spread the letters out in front of her and tore open the first one; her eyes were already tearing. They continued to fall to the pages of letter that Tatyana wrote. The baby’s name was Corina, Ralitza liked that. There were other odds and ends that Ralitza was proud to hear about and every time she read the baby’s name she let out a soft sob. After reading through all of the letters, Ralitza wrote a simple one addressed to Larisa reading, The baby was a girl. Her name is Corina.

Years passed and the ritual continued with Rali reading letters on the baby, Corina’s, birthday. Ralitza maintained her position as the Healer for the reserve and soon took on another traveling job as a Healer for a tiny Romanian hospital site (which conveniently provided itself to be in great supply of much needed anti-depressant potions). She lingered around the children’s wards and spoke with the children often. A few more years passed and word had spread from the Romanian Dragon Reserve to one in Sweden and to one in Norway. Owners of both were soon looking to hire Rali into their staff and she would have taken them up on the opportunity but then that would mean that there would be less time spent around the kids. So she stuck with her Romanian centered jobs and was satisfied. Traian, however, was growing restless. He was beginning to encounter past feelings being reborn and, sadly, Ralitza wasn’t.

The two adults lived together like any other “couple” did. They bickered and laughed and did all of the annoying couple activities like talk about the newspaper, bills, people at work, etcetera. But what Traian saw and what Ralitza saw were two different things. Ralitza couldn’t help but compare it to what she had with Radoslav, her Rado, and it never matched up. The feelings weren’t there, or at least for her they weren’t. But she promised Traian she’d at least think about a possibility. Words were words however, and Ralitza never really put much thought into a future between the two. That and she couldn't help but have her mind always tread on the fact that she and Radoslav had never officially gotten a divorce, a fact that left Ralitza feeling both sad and angry at the man.

Sixteen years had passed and Rali hadn’t so much as seen her own child. Separation seemed to work. Granted, Ralitza got a few photographs in her letters that she read once a year but that was never the same as seeing someone in the flesh. But Ralitza kept the photographs anyways and tucked them into an album of other photographs of Tatyana and Ralitza as children, photographs from her days at school, photographs from St. Mungos, with Yuliya, with Traian, with Varya, with… Radoslav. Her heart lurched and she slammed the album shut. It would happen this summer, it had to. Ralitza had to see her daughter. And so Ralitza made her way back to St. Petersburg one summer day when she knew of a show that would probably be involving some one of her family or another. It didn’t take but five seconds for Ralitza’s eyes to land on a girl that resembled so much of… her… so much of… him. Rali couldn’t tear her eyes away; it was mind-boggling. At the sound of commotion, Ralitza took that as her cue to leave, the staring contest breaking and Ralitza was gone with a light Pop!

Back in Romania, back to the reserve, back to her handy dandy mini flask full of vodka and anti-depressant potion. The sight was all too much for her. The girl was so grown up and so beautiful it was hard to believe she was a product of Ralitza’s and Radoslav’s. Ralitza didn’t speak a word of it to Traian for fear that he’d think it absurd. Instead she kept that mental image to herself and thrived off of it for the next few months. Currently, Ralitza’s reading the letters of tragedy that had apparently taken place at the same show. There was a death, Tatyana’s son’s death to be more exact. It apparently had taken a large deal of pain on Corina and oh, how Ralitza wished she would have been there to nurture the poor girl back to sanity once more. Hold the girl in her arms, comfort her, love her, cherish her, tell her that everything was going to be all right. As it were, she could only hope that Corina knew of Rali’s desires, somehow. She packed the letters away and tucked the ever filling trunk (opened only by the key that hangs from her necklace) under her bed to wait for the next years batch of letters to come in. Rali sat atop her bed, knees pulled up to her chest and eyes swollen not from the letters, but from regret. Regret that she ever let her lovely child go.

Ralitza is still working at the Romanian Dragon Reserve with Traian. She's watched as the dragons have aged and adapted over time and can't help but find some hidden light in it all, somewhere. She also still works as a traveling Healer for the small hospital site in Romania, where she focuses her skills on the children, and as a Healer at another small hospital site in Russia. She's still lost in regret but somehow manages to hide it from everyone else, save for Traian. The months ahead look no different to her than the months that have passed. She only looks forward to surviving the next year's batch of letters and photos. Perhaps there's more in store for her, more than she's willing to see.

roleplay response

There may have been a polite 'Thanks' in store for Larisa had Ralitza not been completely pissed about the fact that Tatyana had so conveniently revealed a connection held between Corina and Radoslav. Who did he think he was to start writing to Corina? Ralitza's eyes flashed to the door as her mind tread over the idea. Wasn't he the one that never wanted to see his child or Ralitza ever again? Her delicate fingers were beginning to tighten their grip on her ever-emptying glass of Radoslav's vodka. He had thrown them out! What was he doing? And now, during times like these. Rali's crossed legs began to pulsate slightly as her blood was being pumped throughout her body faster and faster. She was sitting atop Radoslav's desk and the fact that years ago Ralitza had uncovered a little secret within the drawers was far from her mind at the moment. The emotions that she experienced when uncovering the mask were nothing in comparison to those that she was experiencing now. Her eyes were beginning to play tricks on her as the seconds passed. Shadows were starting to move in the oddest of fashions. Another sip from her glass and she leaned over to fill it back up.

It didn't really help, drinking to forget that is. The next day always seemed to end up in her emotions on overdrive and worse than before she had started drinking at all. That fact never swayed her in any particular direction though. Vodka was soothing whether facts told her otherwise or not. Rali's foot was now tapping itself in midair, passing seconds slowly by as her eyes hardly steered away from the direction of the door she had walked through barely minutes before. The woman spun the glass around in her hand, as if to make sure the liquid was still in there and hadn't disappeared already into the pit of her stomach. Yes, she could hold her drinks. How could she not after seventeen years of it trying to erase memories?

There was a creaking noise and a dull series of footsteps could be heard in the distance. Her senses seemed to have grown acute as they narrowed in on the small noises coming from behind the door. Probably from that man. It sickened her to think that he'd be walking through the door at any minute. The only good thing was that he had no idea what he was in for. Pressing the glass to her lips once more, she felt as her foot ceased it's tapping motions. Rali's eyes focused in on the door's handle as it was suddenly starting to move. Her heart stopped. Her eyes locked on the door and then the man that made his way out from behind it. What would she say? Oh shit. The glass was tipping up against her lips once more as the man studied her. Did he not recognize her? She felt her core temperature rise in anger as the face she recognised so well came into clearer view. There was no smile. There was no 'hello'.

She let the silence take over, allowing for the situation to ever deepen into possible confusion for the man. Stupid man. Foolish, wretched, uncaring man. Her eyes flickered in anger and she had to tear them away for concern that she'd be staring at him til he burned on the spot. Not that she would mind... but she still had to hear it from him. Ralitza had to hear Radoslav's reasoning behind Tatyana's claim. Rali turned to the familiar bottle and filled her glass up one last time before setting the bottle down with a bit more force than before. Glass in hand, the petite woman settled onto her feet as she advanced towards Radoslav. She was mentally fighting her anger to want to strangle the man. Ralitza had to keep calm. But how could she! How could he even think about - what the Hell was going through his mind when - why now? Rali wasn't too close, but close enough for Radoslav to probably catch a hint of her underlying hate towards him. "... so now you want her?" Ralitza asked as calmly and as casually as she could while adding the needed emphasis on the word 'now' because, if memory served her right, and it did, seventeen years ago Radoslav didn't want anything to do with his daughter.
