Tell me when it's over [Kitty]

Cabhah Liam Daley was told by his mother that he was to go with his father to London. His father was going to some Ministry conference, and his mother and sister were off to some resort for 'girls day.' It wouldn't have been his first choice, he even suggested going to a friends house for the day, or even a couple. But she insisted he needed to go with his father, it would keep them both out of trouble. Trouble, it wasn't something that Cabhan looked for, unless someone else started it first. Not to mention, he hated being out in public, especially if was by himself. He had said goodbye to his father as he wandered into this little meeting and Cabhan was on his own. He let out a hefty sigh and looked out across London. He hadn't been in London. He'd been in the cities around it because of school but this was different. His father even told him to dress like a muggle. Ugh a muggle really? He dressed as well as he could without dressing down.

His hazel eyes scanned around the area and pursed his lips. Ah! A book store not to far from where he stood. Maybe a couple blocks. He looked down at the ground...Cobble stone and brick. Great! He took a step and looked back down. One...two...three...four...five... Six bricks among the stones. He took a second step and without knowing it started counting out loud. "One, two, three, four, five, six, seven." He rolled eyes and looked back at the last stop. Why couldn't they make these even!! They didn't match. He bit down on his lower lip and let out a breath. He shook his head and took another step. "One, two, three. REALLY? Only three this time!?" He shook his head again and took two more steps trying to ignore the bricks. He picked up the pace and took off in a steady run.

The boy almost got hit twice but it made it to the bookstore without counting all the bricks. He looked down one last time. "One, two, three, four, five." The same amount he started with. That worked out. He opened the door and let it go. He opened the door again, and again. It did it five times before walking inside. His OCD was getting the better of him. It was because he was in an unknown city, by himself. It was hard to looks past the buzz of the people around. He ran a nervous hand through his hair. Books, oh books. "Finally, somewhere I'm comfortable." He smiled as he started walking down the aisles. The books were out of order, big ones with small ones. Tall ones with short ones. Fiction with non!? He looked up at the front counter. It was and older man. He wore glasses and had snow white hair. "No wonder." He sighed and picked a random book when three of them fell down. It didn't surprise him. He picked them up and placed them somewhere else, the seemed to fit better there anyhow.

He counted the number of letters on the front and multiplied the number by five. "Eighty-five. Probably as old as the man up front." He laughed to himself before putting the book back. He looked to his side and a shadow pass him. He walked down the aisle looking for the culprit of the shadow. As he went he swiveled the ring on his right ring finger.

Kitty was in London with her father escaping the monotony of another day in the café with her mother. She had only enough money for a cup of tea and a biscuit if she was lucky, and with another five hours before she was heading back she needed to make it last. Dressed in her grey tartan skirt, emerald green tights and grey sweater Kitty was ready for the day.

She would often visit London during the school holidays to get a taste of the world that she wasn't used to. However being that her mother was a muggleborn, the non-magic world wasn't that odd at all. It felt more like an  escape from the dreariness of being an underage wizard. There were a number of places Kitty loved in the city. First the small tea house in the middle of the city. Second was the small green patch near the outer part of the city, and third was the bookstore on the corner. And boy was Kitty determined to visit the bookstore on the corner. It was run by an old man who unfortunately doesn't have a knack for organizing his books. She would often drop by and help organize quietly; it would take away the guilt of reading all of the books for free.

Inside the bookstore Kitty felt at home. She adored the musty smell and was even more in love with the odd spacing of the building. It was largely dark mahogany and had always conjured up thoughts of grand manors, filled with silk curtains and mahogany fire places. Something Kitty had only ever seen in the pages of a muggle magazine in her grandparent’s living room.

Suddenly she heard the door creek open, and then shut, and then open, and then shut. The door must have been getting fixed. Kitty peered out past the aisle to see a boy shutting the door one final time. Kitty thought this to be quite odd. She watched as he strolled into the shop. Kitty walked across to the other aisle to get a better look at the strange boy. Dressed in what looked like expensive clothes his demeanor was quite proper. Kitty was curious as to why a boy dressed in such nice clothes was in a second hand bookshop, moving again to avoid his line of sight.

Why is he here? With a loud crack three of the books the boy was looking at fell to the floor. Kitty had just organised that section, and it was already messed up. He picked them up and returned them, but not to their original places. How irritating. Now more irritated than curious Kitty moved closer into the aisle next to his. She decided peering on the side wouldn't draw attention to herself and would give her a change to better look at the random who  and moved to the very edge of the aisle. Silently she popped her head out to catch a glimpse of the back of his head, then pulled herself back smacking her head on the shelving as she went. Kitty let out an exasperated sigh. Ouch. She heard some movement from the other side and began making her way to the other end.

Cabhan hated the state of this bookstore. He was moving things, putting them in alphabetic order by author, it wasn’t enough to just have the look neat. The books had to be in some sort of order. They were all scattered about, Fiction, nonfiction. It was driving him crazy. It wasn’t that he didn’t like the little shop. It was cute enough and they actually had some good titles. But the disarray of the books…it was madness.
The young man walked down the row of books next to him looking for that shadow. He had a feeling they were following him, watching him. What the hell, why…? He was just a customer, trying to find a good book in the giant mess of a store. When he turned the corner her heard a heavy sigh. He looked back behind him but saw no one there. Seriously!? Come on quit being a creeper and just so your face. “I know you’re watching me….” He stated as he looked for the culprit.

At last he turned there she was, some little girl. Who the, who was she and why was she following him around the store? “Can I help you…? I mean really, I’m just here looking for a book and you have done thing but follow me around.” Girls. He stared at her and perked a brow. His foot began to tap. He was getting impatient with this…whoever she was.
“Do you work here even? Or do you make a habit out of following people around stores, I don’t need a stalker you know.” He grinned at his own little joke before eyeing her again. People like her drove him nuts. What right did she have to follow him around? He didn’t give her permission and he didn’t want to know her either. Ugh, what was it with girls.

The boy had moved around all her things. They were organised in a special way, that made sense to her. Kitty was feeling more agitated now than before. Plus the throbbing pain in her head from the bookcase was a cause for anger. What kind of person just comes into a bookstore and begins reorganizing?   However Kitty would never admit that aloud to anyone, she would just bottle the anger and be polite to his face.

Kitty wasn't following him, she was just keeping tabs on him from a distance. It was  after all her organizing it every week .  She was allowed to be curious of stranger coming in and messing it about. She heard his footsteps coming around the aisle and began creeping backwards and turned into the next aisle. She heard a deep voice. “I know you’re watching me.’” Oh god, now I look like a creeper Kitty stopped in the aisle more frightened now that she was caught. She saw his shadow on the side of the aisle but she couldn't move. He swung around the aisle end and there he was. He is taller than she first thought.

Inside her head she was panicking. Oh no. Stupid Kitty what were you thinking? Why didn't you just mind your own business! He spoke again this time in what seemed like a harsher tone. He was questioning her. “I… uhm… no.” Kitty struggled with finding words. She was staring at the ground. “I was just fixing the books again.” Kitty looked up from the ground at the boy, her green eyes were now wider than ever. She was fiddling with her sweater zip watching to see what he was going to do. Please don’t be mad, please please please don’t be mad. I should run now while I have the chance, and just never come back.

Sure, if the girl moved the books around to match her style well then that would make since for her…but what about the rest of the world? How would they know where to look for something, especially nonfiction if it’s all buddle together in a huge mess?! He let out a sigh as he looked the girl over. She looked utterly terrified. Good then he got his point across.

Keeping tabs and following, yep sounded the same. He looked at her and perked a brow as she looked at him. “So….what is your issue…?” He tilted his head at her. She was driving him nuts! He was already pretty crazy from the walk here, having to deal with all the damn bricks in the roads. Who does something like that anyhow, it didn’t even look good!

“Fixing the books again…? Oh so it’s you that puts the books away then…well let me tell you, I work at bookstore back in Dublin and you suck at it. I mean come on, what kind of order do you have them in?!” He shook his head at her. He didn’t know what this girls problem was. He let out a grumble while he glared at her. “Just stop following me around! It’s annoying and besides, you’ve got books to put away.” He rolled his eyes at the sad, little girl that stood in front of him. Yes, he was a jerk but he knew that too.

“What’s this issue?” What’s this issue? What the issue?! Kitty was angry underneath but on the surface she was petrified. His face changed when he saw her expression please leave please just leave! He opened his mouth to speak again, this time questioning her ability to put the books away, professing that his abilities were superior to hers being that he worked in a bookstore. Kitty was not amused. No one had ever complained about her book organisation in past, including the shop owner. Why does it matter to him how I organize books, I've ever seen him here before anyway!

What was this boy doing here, it was obvious he didn't fit  in this area of London. From this close it was obviously the boy hadn't worked a hard day in his life. He had perfect hair and look on his face that suggested he was certain he was much better than everyone here. Kitty was frozen, what she was supposed to say. He spoke again this time demanding she stop following him making a snarky comment at the end. I can’t believe this is happening.

He rolled his eyes as Kitty found her words, however they were not the right ones. “Why are you here if you are from Dublin?” Her voice was shaky. What am I doing? So stupid! Kitty was trying to look calm but her nerves had already starting getting the better of her. She was forcing herself to look at the boy. Just forget what I said, walk away please. Pretty please just walk away. The silence was killing her. Kitty was regretting even going into London today. This book shop was out of her list now; she couldn't risk seeing the boy again. However all she could do now is wait for a response.
