[solved] State of Things at Hogwarts

Hello Everyone,

I am working on my character sheet and I am about half-way done, but I have hit a bit of a roadblock. I see that MH is currently two years post DH plot line, and I'm curious about the state of things at Hogwarts. My memory of canon is admittedly fuzzy, but I'm curious how the "rebuilding" of Hogwarts was handled here on MH specifically and if things are relatively normal again? My character would've had her 7th year just after the battle of Hogwarts, so I would like to know what that would've entailed. Similarly, am I allowed to incorporate her storyline (within reason) into the battle of Hogwarts?

I hope I'm making sense, let me know if I can help clarify anything.

Thanks!

Hi, I'm Carys, one of the admins. It's early here and I'm writing this before work so hopefully I make sense regardless!

MH-wise, over the past few years:

During DH-playtime, muggleborns were either on the run, transferred to Beauxbatons (generally due to a large donation) or hiding out at "The Ward" - we can explain this more if your character is muggleborn, otherwise don't worry about it ;) At Hogwarts, there was a Strength in Purity "SIP) club run by the pureblood students, Dumbledores' army were active, and things ran mostly by the books. When it came to the battle, any overage students who wanted to fight (Slytherins included) could do so. The MH potions professor was killed (by the very character I'm writing with, as it happens!).

OWLs and NEWTs were taken at the Ministry. A massive rebuild of the school and grounds took place and was played out IC, again involving older students and any adult characters who wanted to take part. We also have elementals (check out the special features guide) who helped with the rebuild though this wasn't common knowledge among most students. McGonagall is now headmistress. So your char's seventh year would have been at a school that was pretty subdued, mostly rebuilt but still partly in progress.

Oh, and the Room of Requirement - it still works, but the room of hidden things obviously no longer exists and is now just a little broom closet if someone wants to hide something.

I have almost certainly left out something major and vital here! Please do incorporate your own char's history into MH canon though, that'll be great :)

Look forward to seeing your finished sheet

Welcome to magical Hogwarts!

Thank you Carys, that answers all of my questions! That gives me plenty of information to finish my background story.

Thanks again!
