This was boring. Kerr's head slumped against his hand as he stared at all of the numbers. Usually, he'd be all focused on the numbers. Woohoo, math. No. Not today. He was stircrazy and it was driving him up the wall, across the ceiling and back down the wall again. Seriously, why was everyone in this mad dash to study. He just wanted to do something. It was a weekend. Why was he still in this book filled prison? He wanted to see Freya. A little smile danced at his lips, and he slammed his book closed. That's it! He was going to go to Hogsmeade and get her something cute, and she'd smile. Everything would be well in the world.
Wait. ...He really didn't want to go by himself. It was stupid, but the last time he'd gone to Hogsmeade and wandered off, he'd had to take a month long vacation. He was surprised that he was by himself at the table, because the Regans had closed ranks around him. He usually wasn't unsupervised now, and as an adult male, it was beginning to become frustrating. Looking around the room, he frowned. Why did Emilia look so intent? She was just a baby, and she should be having fun. That was it.
Packing up his bags, he walked over there and pulled away the parchment from in front of her. "Mimi." He said, urgently. "No. This is unacceptable. It's the weekend. You're being boring. Why aren't we at Hogsmeade, having fun, and eating junk food? Up. Hogsmeade now." He tugged at her arm, before smiling broadly as she rose. Haha. He won.
He waited for her at the door, and smiled down at her when she grabbed his arm. One hand rested on top of hers as they walked. He made sure that she didn't walk over anything that would make her fall as he listened to her chatter. His eyes closed for a moment and he took a stablizing breath. He'd forgotten how abrubt and direct Emilia was sometimes. "Thanks Mimi." He smoothed his free hand over the back of his head. "You're becoming very pretty as you get older as well."
Wait.
How old was Emilia? Old enough for boys to start noticing her. His brow twitched as he thought about someone taking advantage of his little Mimi. He'd kill them. Roast them over a fire. As he thought, he petted her head absently. He'd protect her. He'd have to tell Jay, probably get Conall and Trevor, and they'd have a guard. Maybe they needed to check up on all the girls. Danny kept looking at Casey, and he had to make sure that he wouldn't have to punch him in the knee. Repeatedly. When punch really meant hit with a beater bat. Paddy Dragon was all fierce, but she still needed protection. He'd...just have to make sure she never found out. She had a fierce right hook. His face was still delicate. Maybe it was a bad idea. No. He was a man. Casey wasn't that scary...
Once they got to the village, he was surrounded by girlish excitement. His younger cousins were the closest he got to baby sisters, so it was always a new experience for him. "Pumpkin...spice...latte?" What the f*ck where those? "Um. Sure." Then his eyes flicked to the place and he blanched. Nervous laughter bubbled up from his throat. It was so pink. Was that lace in the window display? She had to be kidding. He looked down at her, ready to say no, then he saw her eager face. He deflated and smiled softly at her. Why was he so weak?!
"Sure, Mimi. Let's go get one of those Pumpkin things, and go wherever you want..." He felt sweat slide down his spine. This felt like a bad idea. Like he wouldn't come out of it unscathed.
