"And I heard they've got a whole pool full of merpeople. Actual merpeople! Forget the troll they're parading around on display! Can you even believe it?" Kit Emberton was trying, and failing, to keep his voice hushed in the corner of the dingy London pub that he and Elaine Morgan found themselves in.
The pair of activists, who also happened to be old friends, found themselves in a wizarding village just outside of London under the guise of a married couple traveling through town. Apparently the small population of witches and wizards wouldn't take well to two strangers rucking up to spy on their resident circus. "Sorry..." The Healer coughed into his closed fist as his electric green eyes shifted around the room to see if anyone had noticed his little outburst. Much to his delight, the crowd of people seemed more interested in the group of people who entered from the cold night air.
"What says you? Fifteen more minutes?" The twenty-seven year old's gaze flicked down to his wrist watch and then back up at Elaine with an inquisitive look. A small smile tugged on the corner of his lip when he recognized the familiar fire behind the small woman's eyes. It excited him that she was as passionate about the travesty that was 'Cirque Du Freak' as he was. The energy that carried between them over the small table that their drinks sat atop of was nearly palpable in the air. Absentmindedly, he wondered if the other people felt it like he did.
He and Elaine had been planning this reconnaissance mission for weeks after a series of preliminary check ups and spying that gave them most of the information they would need to really sneak in to the poor excuse for a circus that made a living on 'beasts'. Based on the observations thus far, it was just late enough for Kit and Elaine to execute with their plan of taking photos and gathering evidence because most of the performers would be sleeping.
"Just up the road, we won't even need to apparate," Kit thought aloud to himself as he took another gracious gulp of his beer. The man wasn't typically one for nerves, but something about tonight felt inherently different, like it was going to be make or break.
