[Solved] Beautbatons Core Classes + Elementals In The Family History
« on: June 21, 2015, 05:09:26 PM »
When reading through the Beauxbatons guides, it didn't seem to say which classes were core classes and which were electives, it just seemed to list all the subjects. Would anybody be able to tell me what the core classes are(like at Hogwarts they're trasfigureation, Herbology, dada, potions, charms, etc.)?

Thanks in advance : )
(PS This may just me being stupid / blind....)

*another question*
I'm writing out Tori's extended family, and I was wondering if I could put an elemental somewhere along the line. Would this be accepted? Would I have to write a SF app? I'm never planning on playing the relative, just wondering. The same goes with a metamorphagus / parsletongue, do I need applications or not?

*edit*
Also is there another way of making a witch / wizard live longer other than elementalism, unicorn blood or a philosophers stone?

Hi Georgia,

I am not sure about the Beauxbatons core vs. elective classes. That's a question probably best answered (or considered) by Vannah ( @Gabrielle Delacour ) our BB administrator.

Secondly, as far as having special features in your character's family, the question I would ask you is why do you want to include them?

If it is something that will greatly impact or influence your character, then perhaps it would make sense to mention it, but if they're relatives that you have no intention of playing, why would you want to include this information?

Full disclosure, I am not an administrator, but I thought I'd try to help <333

Thanks!

And second, I think I read somewhere that Elementals live longer than normal witches and wizards? Tori's very close to all of her family (save a couple or so) and so I was wondering if she could have a great great grandmother/father that was still alive? It's not really necessary, I just thought up of it randomly.

Sure thing ~ !

Hmm, that does sound like a decent reason to me! Best wait for an admin to make a proper decision, though. ^^

I'm sure one of them will pop in here soon enough <333

It also could come down to exactly how old you want the grandmother to be. If you're not gonna have her be an elemental for any specific reason, you probably don't need it. Overall wizards love pretty long. Mcgonagall was like 90 and she looked like she was middle-aged still. I have written some family members who were around 150 when they died.

You could also have her take some sort of special potions regimen or just have her be really healthy?

As far as the Parseltongue app, there are some guidelines with that, as far as personality and blood status go, in that case, if you wanted a Parseltongue relative, they should be there for a reason, I think. If you have a good one, perfect! But overall, and an admin can correct me if I'm wrong, we try to keep uncommon occurance (elementals, twins, orphans, etc.) lower in numbers if possible to follow reality.

But if you were thinking of an sf for a character, definitely ask around and you can get a lot of advice.

Thanks @Amaranth  The parsletongue / metamorphagus question was just curiosity; the elemental one was the answer I actually needed to know. Thank again!

Hey there!

On the subject of BB core classes, I'd say that the core classes are the same as the ones at Hogwarts. The Beauxbatons equivalent for Transfiguration, Potions etc. Hope that helps!
