Hello all,
As we mentioned
back in June, the admin team is re-working the old Quidditch system, and as promised the system has undergone some tweaks that I'd like to share with you all.
Most of the changes are rather minor, but there are some bigger changes that have been made. The largest of those changes is the implementation of a dice system. The dice system will work much like a dice system in Dungeons & Dragons, and is meant to help ensure player actions remain fair as well as throw in some unexpected events into the games. Another sizable change that will be implemented is the introduction of basic statistics, which will be assigned to Quidditch players by their drivers, and will follow them throughout the season.
Some other minor changes include:
- A discontinuation of the stands threads. If you want to post like your student is in the stands, just start a separate thread with the tag [Stands]. Of course, the rule about players only playing in the game thread still stands.
- Adding on an extra day to the currently allotted 72 hours, making it four days (96 hours) instead of three.
- An extra team post per turn. Instead of two posts per team, you'll be allowed three.
- The introduction of some team discussion threads. These threads will be located in the Locker Room, a new forum that has been added, and will allow teams to have an open space where they can communicate and plan for Quidditch matches. This is also being introduced in hopes of getting away from having team captains delegating matches, and promoting more team driven decisions.
- The introduction of random events, where team captains will roll the dice at the start of the game and at some point during the match the event that coincides with the dice roll will be thrown in.
We will also be encouraging shorter posts for games. Drivers shouldn't feel the need to write 6+ paragraphs just to say they scored or intercepted the quaffle, etc, however this isn't to say that you can't write 6+ paragraphs if you want to. Feel free to write as much as you want.
Because of activity, Quidditch will only be played at Hogwarts this term. If activity at Beauxbatons and Durmstrang picks up, and if the interest for played Quidditch is there, then we may decide to re-implement Quidditch at those schools.
Before we finalize this system, it will be tested out in two trial runs (the first two matches of the year) to give everyone an idea of how it works, and to see what the general opinion is. All in all, we hope this will add a nice to change to how we've run Quidditch in the past.
The new Quidditch rules will be posted as soon as the new Hogwarts Quidditch captains have a chance to look them over.
