So the other man had been in trouble? He supposed that might explain his strange behavior, but surely there would have been another way to get himself out of the situation that didn't involve forcing Elias into something that he definitely wasn't interested in. This club was clearly not his scene; he should never have been in here in the first place. He was undecided whether he wanted to blame his friend for the whole thing, or whether he would rather get out of here and pretend that nothing strange had happened at all. Probably the latter -- he didn't need this story being retold at all future parties to everyone else's amusement.
Elias was considering just trying to blow the whole strange encounter off, getting his friend, and getting out of there when the man grabbed his wrist, stopping him from extracting himself from the hold on his waist. He was starting to recollect his emotions after all the confusion and was surprised to find that he was starting to get a bit angry. What was this man doing, forcing himself on him and then mocking him for wanting to be a good friend? He opened his mouth to reply, but the other man just kept going. Was he seriously suggesting that his mate might get taken advantage of, and that he should do nothing about it?
This man was asking for his help. He was doing his best to keep his anger under control -- it wouldn't do to create a scene in the middle of this club -- but everything this man had done so far was rubbing Elias the wrong way. Despite his annoyance and embarrassment, it was against his nature to simply refuse a request for help like that, not when it came so openly and wouldn't be hard to do, not really. The stranger had turned so that they were no longer face to face, and Elias decided he could do this small task for the other man before making his escape. Looking again over at the door where his friend had disappeared, he finally saw him coming back out. Elias lifted his hand and waved urgently, until his friend caught his eye. He gestured toward the exit, and his friend nodded, starting to head in that direction.
"I'll help you, then. Let's go," he said shortly, and moved toward the doorway after his friend. They were out on the street a moment later, and Elias immediately moved to stand next to his friend, taking advantage of the stranger's loosened grip on his waist to finally pull free. "I hope things work out for you," he said, looking back over his shoulder at the mysterious man with a rather cold look on his face. "Goodbye."
And with that, he headed off down the street, pulling his drunk friend along with him, hoping that he had been too intoxicated to take note of the fact that Elias had been wrapped up in the stranger's arms. They reached the apartment they had been aiming for after only a few more blocks, and as they headed up the steps, Elias felt sure he would need a few more drinks before he could call it a night.
