Brynn had been standing uncomfortably on the door step for nearly fifteen minutes, trying to decide whether she should actually knock or if she should just turn back and go somewhere else.

In all reality, she shouldn't have been at the house in the first place, but she hadn't been able to take being stuck at her own house any longer. Things at the young Slytherin's house were quite tense at the moment, with her parents and younger siblings still mourning the death of their daughter and sister and the constant arguing about whether or not Brynn should be kept home for the upcoming school year. Just as she'd been for the past two years, her mother was firmly against the idea, and felt as if Eillyn's recent fate only added to her cause. Brynn on the other hand, was more determined than ever to return to Hogwarts. She was finally starting to find her place in the school, and finally opening up to a couple of people, which was something she hadn't done since she was eight years old. But the more they argued, the more firm her mother became on her stance, and it was becoming obvious that Brynn's tricks from the previous two years were not going to work this time around. Her mother clearly expected her to give up, but Brynn figured that if her parents wouldn't take her to the train station, she'd just run away and take herself.

So she'd gone for a test run. She'd theorized about running away for several weeks, then planned it for several more before finally feeling confident enough to pull it off. Deciding on the destination was definitely the hardest part, but in the end she decided on Brietta's house, if only because she couldn't think of anywhere else to go. She'd left her house at four thirty in the morning, after stealing some money from her mother's purse, and boarded the earliest train towards the Isle of Wight. Six and a half hours, several train switches, two bus rides, and a ferry later, she finally made it to the island. It hadn't taken her long to walk to her schoolmate's house, but as soon as she'd reached the door she was instantly filled with worry. Though she was easily the person Brynn had grown closest to during her years at Hogwarts, the ginger was unsure how the other girl felt about her. What if Brietta didn't want Brynn to be at her house? What if she wasn't even home? Worse, what if Brietta's parents answered the door and questioned her, then made her go back home?

Maybe it was just better that she leave anyway. Brynn turned around and started walking away from the house, but she only made it a few step before stopping and turning around. Why should she go home already? She'd come all this way to talk to her . . . well, to talk to Brietta (and to prove a point, but she'd already done that), and even if Brietta turned her away, at least she could say she'd been brave enough to try. But on the other hand, parents were scary and she'd rather not have to deal with any. The ginger paced in front of the door several times before finally making a decision. She turned back to the door and, after taking a deep breath, gave a the door a sharp knock.

It wasn't even midday yet and Brietta felt like the day had gone on forever. She was in fresh hell in her own home. Her mother was not at work that day which meant the young Slytherin witch was forced to sit up in her room and work on her writing with her new dominant hand. Brietta's hand began cramping with twenty minutes of her starting, which at this point was over three hours ago, and petty girl was insanely jealous of Annika, who was allowed to enjoy her holiday and not do anything at all. The English witch didn't understand why her mother seemed to be punishing her for her injuries, it wasn't fair!

At least Tara Toft was kind enough to leave her daughter with ample supplies of chocolate and gave her frequent top-ups of tea, but sudden shouts followed by the sound of excited footsteps clumping up the stairs resulted in an event which would change this. Her sister decided that she wanted to go out into the village and the Slytherin witch scowled at her sister in annoyance as she was informed that their mother had agreed to take her there. Their father was in London at work so if Annika and her mother left, Brietta would be all alone. That didn't bother her, but the fact that Tara had sternly told her that she was to continue practising her writing until they returned most certainly did. Brietta was furious.

The pair soon left, however, and Brietta stared solemnly out of her window for a while, sulking about how unfair life was being to her before realising that her mother would be checking that she had done work when she returned. And so, the teenage Toft began copying the alphabet in lower case, then in upper case, before doing it all over again. She was on her fourth round of the upper case when a sharp knock on the door made the witch jump and spray ink over some of the parchment. Oh well, she mused. If her mother complained she could just blame it on her writing ability, it was more than feasible at the moment. They weren't expecting any guests otherwise Tara would never have agreed to take Annika out. Brietta was curious as to who would be knocking on their door. Looking down at her wizarding attire, the Hogwarts student frowned realising it wasn't exactly suitable if a muggle was at the door.

When she opened the door though, it was not a muggle. The Slytherin witch's jaw dropped to the floor in shock as she realised exactly who was standing on her doorstep. What in Merlin's name was Brynn doing there? "Uhh..." Brietta sounded, not really sure what to do or say. She had an awful lot of questions for the ginger in front of her and she doubted she'd get answers from her. "How'd you find us?" Brietta asked, raising an eyebrow quizzically, still in shock that Brynn of all people was at her house. Realising it wouldn't do to keep her friend out on the doorstep, as there were too many nosy neighbours, the English girl opened the door a little wider and stepped aside a little, smiling slightly (though a dazed look still present on her visage). "Come in, Brynn," she beckoned, her eyes suspiciously darting out onto the pavement to check for anything off before turning into the house. At least she had a break from the never-ending hand cramps... what a day it was turning out to be.
