Diagon Alley. Oh, how Wini loved the hustle and bustle of this hidden magical shopping center. She loved returning here every year to shop for her school supplies and still remembered how she had felt the first time William, her stepfather, well technically biological father, had taken her. She didn't want to think about her confusing family tree so instead she focused on the display of Wonder Witch products on display in the front window of Weasley's Wizard Wheezes. The whole display was pink and bright and obnoxiously girly and Wini loved all of it. Too bad she didn't have enough sickles. She had heard the hair potions made your hair super shiny. She touched her own blonde locks wistfully, but moved on to another shop.
William had gone off to Gringotts to run a few errands, but Wini didn't mind shopping on her own. She was armed with her list of supplies and a small pouch of coins that jingled gently against the inside of her robes. Phillip, her pygmy puff, rode on her shoulder like usual, hidden behind a few strands of her golden hair. She was just coming out of the Magical Menagerie after purchasing some food for Phillip when she stalled on the stoop of the shop.
Suddenly something was pushed into her hands by a hobbled older woman who had been walking by and Wini stilled as her eyes took in the object. It was a battered, old broom that barely looked like it worked. The blonde glanced up, confusion written on her face, as she called out to the woman. "Hey, wait! This isn't mine!" Her voice fell on the woman's back as she hobbled away and Wini was more confused than ever before. She glanced back down at the broom, wondering why on earth that woman would have given her this. A second later, she realized another girl beside her was holding something similar in her hands. Wini presumed the woman had given her one too. Maybe this was all just a misunderstanding. "Did she mean to give this to you?" Wini asked as she turned to the other girl, a polite smile on her face. "She just have given it to me by accident. Do you know that woman?"
