Blue eyes looked down at his watch as he made his way down the street towards, Gringotts. His hands were in the pockets of his pants. He wore a nice pair of slack and a black button-up shirt. His converses were black with black strings and his suspenders had been left at home. He had just left his first day on the job with his mother and wanted to go to his vault before heading home for the day. An inked hand rose to pull the door open to step inside. His eyes traveled over the extravagant workings of the building as he walked forward.

”HOW DARE YOU…

The Howler began catching Jay’s attention as he moved forward. The Goblin looked confused but also it’s eyes wondered around as if embarrassed.  Jay despite himself, laughed, his hand rose to his hair as the woman’s voice tore into the poor creature. His stomach hurt, his eyes watered and he shook his freshly cut head as he stepped forward. He rubbed the tears from his eyes as he chuckled a bit more, the yelling was still going about in the background. “Wow, okay. Jayden Dune..”

His identification was rested down for the Goblin in front of him. “Depositing.”  He handed the small back filled with galleons to the creature before putting his ID away. His pale blue eyes drifted back to the Goblin who’d received the Howler and once more he laughed, an inked covered hand resting on his stomach. The yelling had stopped but Jay could still hear some of the words as he stepped to the side to get out of someone’s way.

Freya was scared of the goblins, but she still kind of liked them. As long as she didn't make any mistakes they were all pleasant enough to her. She knew Ragatha was grumpy almost all of the time with customers, for example, but the little lady goblin was very chatty about her weekends and her large goblin family whenever it was just her and Freya. She and Freya bonded over being the youngest of lots of siblings and hating potions class. Of course, Ragatha was over one hundred and twenty years old and Freya was a mere eighteen, but that was beside the point. Freya had always been good at finding common ground with others.

There was a lot of nervous chatter behind the counters of Gringotts and Freya wasn't really sure what was happening. She left the office she was supposed to be working in and headed towards the main hall of gringotts, looking for one of her superiors so she could ask them what she was supposed to be doing. As she was walking, Freya could hear the sounds of a howler screaming through the halls. She winced at the sound. Freya had received exactly two howlers in her life and both times it had supremely freaked her out, even though one of them was a prank.

As she stepped into the main hall of Gringotts, a loud alarm sounded. It screamed through the building, louder than anything else she could hear. It echoed off of the marble floors. Freya was shocked, as were most of the people around her that she could see. Freya's face broke into a relieved smile as she caught sight of a goblin she was on friendly terms with. "What's happening?!" she shouted over the siren.

"It's just an evac alarm!" The goblin yelled back, "You should exit out the main doors!" Freya raised her eyebrows; she hadn't heard of anything like this happening before. A little dazed and a little panicked, the blonde started making her way towards the front hall. She still had a quill tucked behind one ear and a clipboard in her right hand. The blonde joined the crowd exiting the building, glancing over her shoulders a few times but not really seeing anything. On the front steps of the building, Freya caught sight of someone she knew. "Jay?" she called. It was still noisy out here, but far quieter than it had been in the building.

His laughter was cut short by a loud alarm, one that had his ears ringing and his head spinning. Like everyone else he moved to exit the building a sigh leaving his lips as he was shuffled along without actually having to put in effort. Once outside he stepped off the onto the sidewalk, inked hand running along his clothes as if dusting them off. His head rose, turned and he smiled.  Freya. “Hey, oh right…” He lifted his hand to point back at the building. “…you work here. How are you?”

He shifted as more people came out to get out of the way; he let his eyes graze over her. “Different look for you, clipboard and all.” He joked a bit, her career woman dress was different then her party dress, but then again why wouldn’t it be.  “Do you know the alarm was about?” His head inclined towards the building.  The alarm was still blaring and he knew once he got home he would need to take more then a few potions once he got home. The headache that he would have would grant it.

He laughed, catching sight of the Goblin. “That Howler was awful but that Goblin’s reaction was nice.” His head shook. “Those things are embarrassing.” Just then someone screamed and then another person screamed and Jay looked down at Freya. “What the –“ And like a wave the crowd came towards them, someone yelled out the word swarm and Jay frowned, barely getting out of the way of the moving stampede of panicked people.

"Yeah, I'm good," Freya said, shifting out of the way of more people but keeping eye contact with him so she didn't lose him in the crowd. She laughed when he mentioned the clipboard and self consciously pulled the quill out from behind her ear. "I think there was a threat," she said, ducking past someone so she could stand near him rather than on the other side of several bodies. "I mean, I think someone threatened to do something to Gringotts - I think that howler had something to do with it." Freya leaned her cliboard on her chest and crossed both of her arms over it. She chewed her lip nervously as she cast a furtive look over her shoulder towards the building.

The blonde turned to the sounds of people yelling and was almost trampled by a large wizard who was moving very quickly. Luckily, Jay pulled her out just in time. Freya blinked, her wide eyes confused. "Can you see anything?" she asked, going up on her tippy toes to try and get a look over the crowd. Jay was quite a bit taller than her. Tall enough, maybe, to see what all the yelling was about. The girl rook her glasses off for a moment to clean them before putting them back on her face. She needed to remember to purchase some glasses-cleaning potion before she went home. She couldn't forget it.

The blonde hadn't forgotten the more awkward parts of the night they'd hung out a couple of weeks ago, but she also hadn't forgotten the really nice parts. Ever the optimist, Freya was focusing on those now as she gave Jay a quick smile.

“What? Really?” His eyes grew big with question. “Yeah….I guess so though. That lady sounded pissed” So someone had attacked Gringotts? People were slowly losing their mind. Was whatever had happened worth the chaos that had ensued? His pale blue gaze washed over the crowd. He watched a man take a potion of some kind while off to the side of the moving mass of people. He looked down at the beautiful blonde who was now next to him before he looked up again.

“No I can –“ He paused as his jaw dropped. “Freya, move. Come on.” He grabbed he grabbed the girl’s arm as a dark cloud made it’s way towards the still open doors. He couldn’t see what they were just yet but he knew he had to move. They needed to move. “Run! Now.” He turned to push a man out of his way, knocking him down onto the street, giving Freya the room she needed to move. “Go!” He yelled to the people in front of them as those behind them screamed as if they were being attacked by something terribly horrific.

He didn’t think to apparate. He didn’t reach for his wand. He wanted to run; he was too surprised and too afraid to use magic. He was afraid because he knew in this instance he wouldn’t be able to protect Freya. There would be too man dangerous creatures above them for him too. His strong hands used long arms to clear the way for them both as they moved. He turned to see what descended upon them. What dangerous villainous creature would surely rip them apart was heading for their head? Butterflies. He looked again, angry butterflies.

Who knew that butterflies could get angry, he thought as he became unsure of whether to keep running or to stop and laugh. Butterflies!

Freya didn't know what was happening. She was surrounded by people and Jay had grabbed her hand and there were weird sounds - not just the siren now, but weirder sounds. Fluttery sounds. Yelling. The blonde stumbled over a crack in the cobbled ground underneath and almost plummeted to her trampled death but luckily Jay caught her. She was a good runner - fit, nimble - but she wasn't used to running with a pack of people. Freya scrambled to catch her balance as they sped up together.

"Are they butterflies?" she called, horrified. Her horror contained a mix of general sort of fear but also an extra element of something. Maybe it was the fact that she liked butterflies, and having them chase her seemed extra evil. This whole scenario reminded her a lot of a Harry Potter fanfiction series she'd stumbled across one time. Freya wasn't a fan of fanfiction about real life people and celebrities generally, but this one was really gripping. Sort of a guilty pleasure, she supposed.

The answer was yes, they were butterflies. A huge swarm of butterflies come to kill them all. Freya wondered what the bank had done for someone to release a swarm of evil butterflies aimed at them, but she didn't think about it for too long. Eventually, she and Jay ducked down an empty alleyway together to escape both the bugs and the crowd.
