Inhaling deeply, Farlane stood with a Peter Pan pose in what will be his living room, a dopey smile climbing his features. The young wizard felt ridiculously pleased with himself, to the point he might have patted his own back if it were possible. Today, he signed the papers for a year-long lease on this property and that was as good as it being his. No more roommates to have to share a too-small space with -- no more dealing with all their disgustingly gross habits that would often make his eye twitch. Sure, it was going to be quieter, a little lonelier, but that was just fine for the Auror. Some alone time would do the man some good. And, if it ever got to be too much, he could always search for someone else to come and inhabit that extra bedroom... For now, though, he might turn that into some sort of office or gym or buy himself a damn dog he could spoil rotten in. There was plenty of time to make those decisions down the line.
Tonight, he only wanted to relax and bask in his newly rented home.
Moving in had taken a little under two hours because there wasn't much he owned. Certainly nothing to actually furnish the apartment yet. Everything he had was packed in the very trunk he'd used while at Hogwarts, and from there it was a simple matter of going back and forth to make sure it was all collected. That trunk was now situated in the master bedroom, where he planned to organize into a pretty swanky deal before long. Until then, his mattress and an uncomfortable folding chair was about as interesting as he got.
Farlane passed through the rooms for what seemed like the hundredth time that day, to convince himself it was real and he was actually waiting on some company to arrive so he could show it off to somebody. When he got to the kitchen, the wizard's lips pursed together in some consideration as his eyes went back and forth between the stove and the fridge. Maybe it would be a good idea to have something baking? Especially since the beverages were already taken care of... Lanie tugged open the fridge to see if there was anything he could make, but unfortunately the layout was pretty sparse. Unless she thought pickles were gourmet. Just as the Auror was contemplating a quick food run, the doorbell sounded, and put such notions to rest.
"Janeeee," the boy bellowed out long before he even got to the door and tugged it open, an excited grin taking over. "I hope you brought some food because I sorta forgot that part of the housewarming part..." he trailed off, sheepishly, aware that it wasn't like him to be so forgetful, either. Farlane was an organized and meticulous kinda person who preferred to have all the bases covered. This outlier could be blamed on his change of address, at least. If that wasn't a good reason, then there was none. "Come in, come in," Lanie said, leaning in to offer a brief hug before grabbing for her hand to pull her inside, "there's much to see."
