This post is a continuation of this thread

The Jicarilla crumpled up the note tightly in his fist in frustration. The paper only had on it a time and the name of a muggle coffee shop a few blocks away, yet he knew who left it on his desk and why. The mag-bob hoped that the conniving witch of a woman had been bluffing. That she was just giving him a hard time, or it was all done to pull his leg. Which was why he did not bother to tell his boss after the holidays. Really, he didn't know if his boss would believe it, anyway. All because of one stupid accidental drunken kiss he gave Shimmer, she now expected Vincent to spy for her, to be her 'informant.' The woman had asked him to collect office gossip, that she could use and twist and bend her her own benefit or 'anything she can use will be used and held against him if needed.' It all sounded like a made for TV drama. Now he hoped that the end of the season will come soon, and the lies would be revealed and Shimmer would get fired. No. Unfortunately, they must be still at the start of the plot, where his life is starting to become a living hell.

I could just not go. Defiantly thought the man. Vincent hated the idea he would be used and manipulated, and it would be guaranteeing it if he did go. Yet if he did not go ...What would she do? Something even worse to me. No, the question would be what will she say I did. A small string of colorful curse words escaped his lips which caught the attention of a wizard passing his desk. Vincent apologized and waved his hand dismissively before shuffling the folders in front of him for no reason.

About an hour later, Vincent had a plan. He stood up, took off his outer robe he left in the office for the sake of wizard formality and headed out. He decided to head there fifteen minutes before the set time, to get the lay of the land, and put himself in the right mindset to handle her. The walk to the coffee shop took only five minutes but he past two other No-Maj coffee shops on the way there. It was when the wizard pulled the door open, he realized just why she chose this place. The establishment must have been previously a small restaurant. Unlike the more modern floor open plans of the typical coffee shop, this place still had its original high back booths. They gave privacy to each of the small tables and their occupants along the wall. The place was mediumly packed with several the booths free. Most customers seemed to prefer to grab their office's coffee order and go. So only a few people choose to hang around, probably due to the lack of outlets.

Vincent was standing in the short line and was about to order a tea when he heard a familiar voice behind him. He turned and saw the woman he had avoided in the hallways since the Christmas Party. "Shimmer..." he greeted coldly, before he remembered he wanted to butter her up.

Her note had been sent and now it was only a matter of time before they began their little escapade. Almost as if they were doing something illegal well in all fairness one could claim it was, but at this moment there was nothing wrong with what she wanted. Only information that could easily be spread across offices. She wasn't asking for MACUSA secrets from him or anything though if he decided to spill any she wouldn't say no to that information. She had been careful to disguise the note too as a simple note to meet up almost as if it was asking someone on a date. There was no need for anyone else in the office to know what she was scheming especially if it could get her in trouble. She couldn't let her studies for the investigation department be put in danger, but this task would certainly help her in the long run for her career choice.

Once it began to get close to their meeting time Shimmer got up from her desk and told one of the other secretaries in her department she would be taking her break for a bit. Collecting her handbag she flaunted out of the office with her dress flowing behind her. She needed to be punctual not too early or late. Shimmer had to have control of their situation and not let him make too many choices. Give him the slightest amount of freedom and he could escape from her grasps, but cling him too tightly and he could squeal. No, she needed to put him in a sense of danger, but not be too threatened by her to play along. So a silly note with a time and place to meet was the simplest way to achieve this.

Shimmer couldn't hide her snide smile at seeing Vincent obeying her orders. It was delicious. She half expected him to chicken out and not show up. Her threat honestly was a ruse to use against him. After all most people were very likely to dismiss such a scenario as something that happens at an office party. It was those who were paranoid who were the easiest to take advantage of anyways and her target seemed to be the perfect one this time. "Glad to see you can follow instructions," she said teasingly to the man. "From what I hear you mess most of your tasks up quite easily." This was a lie she hadn't heard much if at all anything about him from others in the office, but a web of lies can sometimes make for good tinder for a flame that needed to spark.

"Now let's find a nice booth to get comfortable in," Shimmer said this as coyly as she possibly could. What was the fun in blackmailing someone without toying with them along the way? Each change of the emotion from his face would prove to be a treat this viper of a woman would enjoy juggling around. So she found a booth and sat down and waited for the young man to join her to which she would place her hand below her chin with her other arm behind it crossing her body and ask, "So what have you got for me big boy?" A nickname with no meaning behind it just to stroke his ego a bit and give him a sense of security. Hopefully would prove a beneficial ploy.

“What? I… don’t mess up… I cleared every case. I just prefer to work with the beast…” The spark easily caught causing old frustrations bubbled to the surface before his voice suddenly stopped. He was talking to a witch, but this was not a wizard coffee bar. The magbob knew more than most wizards, which wizarding words would raise no-maj’s attention. He had to watch what he said and did not say here. Still, on the whole this reaction was not like him. What was with this witch that made his normal calm demeanor boil unbelievably quickly?  He wondered. Instead of continuing he studied the young dark-haired woman before noticing she seemed both currently highly entertained and confident. She was enjoying this.

It reminded him of a cat playing with a mouse before they devoured it. Vincent often wondered if the adrenaline positively affected how the mouse tasted to a cat. He noticed when a deer was killed uncleanly, the meat was sweeter yet was also tougher and went rancid sooner. A cat on the other hand did tend to eat it pray immediately once it was done playing with it, and so did not have to worry about its meal going bad.

This cat cued a lover’s invitation before prancing off in her dress that remind the Native of a New Mexico predawn sky before slipping into a booth. The barista cleared his throat and repeated his request for Vincent’s order.

…………….

A few minutes later the wizard join the witch within the high back booth with his ice sweet tea in one hand a latte in the other. He faulted over her words and had to remind him self of her attempted slap after their kiss. She was just teasing him… and he knew he had to get use to it. He placed the latte in front of the stalking leopard of a witch. It was after the breista mistake thinking he must be ordering for two, that the analytical man remembered he was trying to win the trust of this… witch. So he ordered the simplest dink that most witches ask for… although the tab was more then the bachelor wanted to pay… the latte did not disappoint. In fact it looked too pretty for the price. The Breista over did it by making a flower-heart in the foam.

After he placed the peace offering in front of her, he happily pulled out his pocket size spiral bound note pad. He bought a stack of the pads and use them when he was investigating cases. It seemed to work well now. The pad contained a list of all of the common office gossip he could think of off the top of his head.  Some items he starred for he knew for a fact they were true. There was two items he was sure not many did know and one that could be incriminating. But in Vincent opinion, the wizard deserved to get caught. Still The honest man hesitated to put it on the list, for he did not know how she was going to use the information. Yet he knew he needed to give her something that would be good enough that she kept him in this role.

It was this list that would help him prove he did not make a ‘mess' of tasks.’ In fact, it was essential that she believed she could trust everything he would tell her for his plan to work. Unfortunately, it will have to be a slow process. Frustratingly he realized it might take months for him to set everything up perfectly. Yet he had to wait, for he had to know she trusted everything he fed her completely, before he could set his trap.

He tore off the two small pages off the pad ... and slid them across the table. "This is what I have right now. I drew a star next to the ones that I am sure is true. Everything else is ... hearsay."

Oh, this was just perfect Shimmer thought in response to Vincent's lack of awareness. He almost exposed a magical creature to some muggles after being gently prodded by her antagonizing. Sure he caught himself which meant he was somewhat competent, but this mistake was certainly another bullet in her ammunition of blackmail. Shimmer could imagine the flack he would get if someone just so happened to discover the magical world for his mistakes. Yes, it would just absolutely destroy him and the face of agony upon his face after he was fired or incarcerated for his behavior just tickled her.

Though she was surprised that he got her a drink for their meeting. So he had some sense to make them seem like they belong there after all. This meant he had some brains and would prove difficult later if she wasn't careful. Giving him a coy smile and to play up any onlookers she took the cup and said, "Oh dear how did you know this was my favorite?" She giggled softly before taking a sip of the latte. Shimmer didn't care for lattes that much, but she was willing to act out enjoyment if it meant she could get what she wanted. "Delicious!" Shimmer exclaimed with a gleeful smile painted on her face. "You are so kind to me I don't know how I would survive without you," she said this with laughter that caused those who were watching to turn their heads. Shimmer wanted them to think she was a who was a dime a dozen and not the empresses she was.

Once she could tell that no one was watching she pulled out her wind from her pocket that was against the wall of the booth and whispered, "Muffliato" She quickly put her wand away and changed her tone swiftly. "Now that the onlookers are satisfied we can get down to business," she said this sharply but acting as if she was being playful with him and flirting. Her acting skills were going to be on point today so it most likely seemed a total mismatch to the male, but Shimmer didn't care as this meant she was doing what she wanted to. Keep them guessing was her motto and she was sticking to it.

Vincent then would explain what information he had and even wrote it down. Great physical evidence that was very incriminating, but could draw attention to her. She took her thoughts back about him having a brain he was an imbecile. She gave him a smirk and pushed the paper back towards him with her nails so as not to touch it with her own hands. "While I appreciate the notes I'm going to have to not take them," She took another sip of her latte before continuing, "As I was certain you were aware keeping something so damming at a letter is unacceptable. The plan is to do this without detection and if you aren't smart enough to realize this I guess I should just go and reveal what you have done to me." She smirked at him with another evil glance before adding, "As you can tell I can be a very convincing actor."
