Hi everyone!
As most of you know, MH went down almost two weeks ago: long story short, there seems to have been an issue with our webhost and we were unfortunately unable to get into contact with the webhost owner. We very much appreciate everyone's patience to-date, and ask that you continue to hang in there with us as we get things sorted. We are back online now on a new server - however we have both good and bad news.
Unfortunately, we have lost a sizeable amount of the website's content in terms of posts, even after restoring features. This loss includes both IC and OOC posts, and seems to have affected everything from shippers to announcements to guides to IC threads. At this time there is not a clear pattern that explains which posts were lost and which were not, however it seems that posts made while logged into a master account were more likely to be lost. That being said, not all master account posts were lost - just seems to be random as to which were and were not. You may be able to bring up a cached version of a specific webpage on your browser and recover some content, but be advised that it may not be successful. We have explored a few options, but the posts unfortunately remain unrecoverable at this time. Please see Fee’s post below for an update on this If you have saved posts, you're welcome to repopulate them.
Fortunately, accounts and character profiles are all intact (you may need to simply go to "modify forum profile" and re-save them if they look jumbled) and from what we can tell thus far all of the other site features (FPP, likes, alerts, bookmarks) have been able to be successfully restored.
We understand this is devastating for many of you, as it is for us. We have been working hard to troubleshoot, salvage whatever we could by any means possible, reconstruct the site, and get things back up and running. Fee has restored just about all of the site features, and the rest of the admin team is working on rebooting the guides - we were able to recover the content, fortunately, but not the coding for many of them, so it will likely take some time before they are completely restored.
Again, we sincerely appreciate everyone's continued patience through all of this - we're fortunate to have such a supportive, tight-knit community. Please rest assured that we are working full steam ahead to get things back to normal as quickly as possible, and are of course brainstorming ways to avoid a potential similar disturbance in the future.
