“Only Champagne?†He teased. “You’d die without your nightly seven shots of firewhiskey.†He teased. She was a drinker, as was he, but she didn’t really drink that much. He laughed a bit, and took a sip of his, relaxing back into the booth. “You think you’ll be ready to head back tomorrow?†He asked. “I honestly never want to go back, but you know, I miss the dog.†He admitted. “And Lu, and everyone, you know.†He shrugged. He had been spending more time with Lulu and Tock lately since the accident, and he was lucky they had both been super supportive, but he still didn’t trust Tock, at least not with his sister. He trusted the boy with his life, but not with his sister’s heart. Tock had burned him before, getting with Jane when he knew that not only did Tock not intend to keep her, but that he knew Piers had always loved her. To Piers, that felt like a betrayal.
He didn’t blame him necessarily, though. He just thought Tock was a bit… immature for a serious relationship. He was going to hurt Lu, the way Piers had hurt Meghan. He just didn’t want to see his sister taken advantage of. Not to mention, Tock came with a kid… a teenager at that. Tock and Lu loved Sid, but Piers thought he was kind of an ass. Of course, Piers couldn’t relate to him the way Tock could, but he didn’t understand why he was so angry. Lots of people d been hurt by the war. Lots of people lost loved ones. He lost his mother right after. He had been part of the fighting, but he didn’t go around being angry like Sid seemed to.
Jane loved them, though, and he loved them too, really. They were always around. Sid’s friends were pretty cool, too, with their cool rock band. Tock seemed to like hanging around with the younger crowd almost more than people his own age. He supposed that came with having his teenage… son? Brother…thing? What did he call him?
Sid wasn’t really that much younger than all them, but he felt like an entirely new generation. He could tell he was tipsy with the way his brain was going off on tangents. He wasn’t ready to go back, but he knew they had to. “We should do something special for our last night here. I’ve made plenty of decisions. You tell me, what do you wanna do? You want to dance? I could probably score a little something to loosen us up if you want.â€
