June 2003
Being graduated was weird and Mihaela wasn't sure how she felt about it yet. It was nice to be home and all but she also felt more tied down now. At school she was told what to wear and when to be at class but other than that she kind of had the run of the place. At home she was stuck listening to her father's many rules, training, and hunting and it was like an endless battle to get some free time. And when she finally found some it was never long before one of her aunts or cousins or neighbors needed help with something. That's how life was in a small rural village. Lots of manual labor and lots of people needing the youngest, strongest, of them to do tasks. Mihaela was used to it, but it didn't mean she'd given up on trying to find some fun.
"We still on for later?" She asked Gio as they tore bits of hay off of the bale to feed the horses. She felt a bead of sweat roll down the back of her neck and it hit the hem of her strappy tank top. It was hot, even for June, and the sun was beating down on them. Before long she'd have one hell of a tan to show off to Lev, when she saw him next. As if being graduated wasn't strange enough for the witch she was also unable to see her boyfriend everyday. Something she had become accustomed to over the last year. He'd gone off to play professional Quidditch and while she supported that one hundred percent it didn't mean she didn't miss him all the same.
"If I don't fill my day up with stupid chores and training my da' will find something dumb for me to do..." She told him in between spreading bits of dried grass. After this they had to wrangle the chickens, collect the eggs, and fill up the water buckets in case there was a fire in the night. There was always more to do, but if she told her dad she was training with Gio, he usually let up. Knowing how to fight and protect yourself was just as important, if not more so, to the villagers of Scoarta.
