I think I took a wrong turn somewhere...

I want to preface this by saying for some reason I'm having issues using the site, as in when I go to the main index/home page and I'm not logged in, I can only see a blank/white webpage and I don't know why T_____T I managed to register somehow, after searching specifically for your rules page because I figured all rpg forums have one of those right?

Apologies, I'm a long time roleplayer that was displaced from their permanent home and is struggling to find a new one, so... that doesn't fully explain my dramatics... my overall point is I can be like that sometimes :3

Anywho, I think I took a wrong turn and just wanted to check I'm not imagining things. I could have sworn that I read somewhere on here I need to make an OOC account before making an IC account, but now I can't find where I read that in order to know what my next step is.

Have I got that right? If so... can someone point me in the direction of where to go to next? I received a PM but all the links in the PM are broken. When I check the board related to the PM, the topics say nothing about creating an OOC account which is definitely making me feel, for all intents and purposes, new and confused right now and like I maybe read the wrong thing.

Unfortunately that's an issue we have from time to time. Most members usually bypass that by visiting a random topic or board on our site and then everything works. Hopefully this issue will be resolved soon, but apologies that it gave you issues.

You're correct about seeing that notice. It's actually a notice that's only viewable when not logged into the site. Your next step would be posting in this thread and we'll get your account sorted into the OOC Account member group.

Here's the link to our application. You can work on your character in the sandbox or by registering a character account and filling in all the info under Profile -> Forum Profile.

If you have any other questions, you're more than welcome to PM any of the staff or post here. A lot of our members can also answer questions, as most of them have been here for quite a while.

You're absolutely right about creating a driver account - I've gone ahead and made this one your OOC for you so you don't have to post in the topic. ^^

About the blank index page - don't worry it's not just you! We're having a few on-and-off hiccups over the past few weeks with the index page not loading (but only when you're not logged in), but everything else is loading okay. For the links in your PM, try switching the ".org/rpg" to ".com" and everything you need should load - we switched servers about 3 years ago so the links in some of the welcome PMs aren't completely updated, apologies for that! But if you make the swap as above, the links should work for you.

Thank you both, text cannot convey my relief right now because I was seriously wondering what had happened - I don't come from a forum where OOC accounts were required so I was sure I registered an OOC account because the... site... told me to, okay that sounds weird - THANK YOU!! I'm back and I'm lost again, I'm trying to bulk up my newbie questions though so I don't take too much of your time. Most of this is the broken link issue again but it's not the .org/rpg thing that's an issue, e.g.:

This takes me to a page that says an error has occurred but doesn't tell me what the error is, and it says .com already. And I'm trying to find the used family/surname guide link but can't remember where I was when I came across it, sorry! But yes, my difficulties are at the moment:

- Are you still accepting EFBs? If so, is there a new guide somewhere because the current one is blank...? (Though I'm happy to guess my way through using examples if that's still in development)
- How do I register for the FPP programme?
- Where are the used family names located? And... is there also a directory of like... common family professions?

the link you posted should take you to the FPP leaderboard (but you may not be able to see it until you register)
register for the FPP by going to the top menu bar that says FPP then click Register - it won't look any different afterwards but then the leaderboard should show your player name. catch is that you have to go to Profile > Forum Profile and put your OOC name in the "Player Name" field
once you've done that and click "Register", your OOC name (the one you put in the field) should pop up in the leaderboard

the used family surname guide has been long-since defunct I think, and even if it is still around it hasn't been updated in years
to see if someone has the name you want to use, go to the top menu bar and click Home > Members > Search for Members, then type in the name/ surname you're looking for - this will search all of the account/display names that use the name you put in the search

We had an issue with our old site's server and we're still recovering some of the posts, so that's what it means if the post is blank. But, I just restored the EFB Guide

I don't know if it's me. I've filled in Alburt in all the places that seem appropriate in my profile but everytime I click FPP, an option to register doesn't come up. The only option I have is to view the leaderboard

You mean the FPP link at the very top, in the same line as the current date/time, right?

If you hover the FPP on the top bar, it should have a dropdown menu including "register" that will get you to the leaderboard, otherwise there might be something else going on

yes sorry you have to hover over the "FPP" button in the main menu bar (same line as date/time) to see the drop-down menu and then click "Register" from there!

Yep... sorry, I'm hovering but only the option to view the leaderboard comes up, no option to register >.<; sorry!

if this doesn't work I have another thing to try

(also just FYI, the FPP is completely optional so if we need to do some more troubleshooting it definitely will not prevent you from getting a char Sorted!)

Now... I know the FPP won't stop me from getting my character sorted... but putting the wrong email address in my character account might /)_(\; however, if the number of typos I made in this post is anything to go by, maybe I should tackle that problem after some sleep~ xD

(also FYI you won't be able to link the char account to this one until your character has been officially approved and Sorted, so don't worry about that piece for now!)
