When Aleksei said she could have the book, Zhenya relaxed a little. She was still nowhere closer to having her essay done but at least she’d have the book to look in for information.
He offered her a seat and Zhenya gladly took it, smiling a little sheepishly. The worst thing about her predicament with the Melioration essay was that Melioration was actually one of her better classes and she still had no clue what to write.
Aleksei clearly was one of those students who could always follow in class. The way he asked her about her issues with the essay, Zhenya could tell that he had never sat there in a lesson, unable to follow what the professor was talking about. For Zhenya it was different. In most classes she just sat, praying that the professor would not address her because she had no idea what they were talking about. She assumed that it was because she was not a particularly clever girl and had no time to make up for it by studying hard. However, even if she could find a reason why she was struggling it didn’t change that she had to get through school somehow.
“I don’t even know,†Zhenya finally admitted. “Melioration has always been one of my better classes but lately I somehow lost track. I’m supposed to write an essay on the most popular healing potions, what they’re good for, how they are made, how they work and… I don’t know where to begin, really.†She blushed and looked down. “You know, I am decent with healing spells but potions?†She glanced at Aleksei, looking a little helpless. The athlete wished that she had had more time to study and didn’t have to complete all her school work in a hurry without properly memorising anything.
