"Not it," Madelyn had said in the kitchen of the Delicatessen, but her coworker beat her to the punch, and before she knew it, she was apparating three bags worth of food to a theatre in England. She touched down in a shop not far from the theatre that was kind to magic and stepped outside shortly after. One bag tucked under her arm, and the handles of the other two threatening to break in her left hand, Mady pulled on the door handle. Once inside, she realized it was a strange time to be in this sort of place. Like seeing someone with their makeup off for the first time, it felt surreal.
The hallway was quieter, and Madelyn didn't hate how few people there were bumbling around. She moved toward the auditorium, setting the bags on a counter that likely wasn't for this sort of thing. Inspecting the name on the label (which was near unreadable), she sighed quietly. Strange beams of light from the box high above her cast weird shadows across the hall, and Madelyn looked around. She figured if she stood in the aisle long enough, someone would come and claim the food – and pay her, too – but she didn't want to wait that long.
"Hello, owamya, you know who ordered all of this?" She refrained from the urge to tack on a curse word. It wasn't this wizard's fault that no one could write things clearly, or that she was in a bit of a rush. Madelyn felt under the wand knowing there was another delivery getting cold at the deli. Not because she wanted to make sure their food arrived promptly, but because the sooner she was finished, the sooner she could go back to waiting tables where the tips were better.
