“Ki’s pretty resourceful when he has to be, I’d keep that thing close if I were you,” she further threatened but really she had no intention of following through regardless, not just because she was full of empty threats or anything but because she wasn’t going to separate anyone from their music. She wasn’t absolutely heartless, Magnolia could tell how important music was to Isaac and in a way, it was sort of how important it was to her. It was the one thing they did have in common, it sort of felt like an untouchable understanding. Though she figured they’d probably not have any more of those between them.

Even so, there was plenty that she didn’t like about him like the way he was looking at her like that, even if she had just sort of told him to look at her lips, she hadn’t actually expected him to do that. Sometimes he did as he was told, sometimes he ignored her and did completely opposite, it sort of just felt like he was doing it all on purpose at this point. “You know if you just did what I said we wouldn’t have any problems,” she pointed out, realizing that they had finally reached the end of detention but not really interested in leaving. Maybe getting another detention wasn’t entirely a bad idea…maybe.

“Wow you really are obsessed with me, aren’t you?” she said incredulously when he picked up her books, realizing it probably wasn’t the sort of princely behavior that she had imagined but not stopping her from imagining that it was anyway. It was important to focus on the positives, after all, she reminded herself. “But I guess if I’m gonna get some free labor out of this, suit yourself,” she shrugged, walking ahead of him as she headed towards the door. She hoped his friends would notice, especially Fiora, she hadn’t realty forgotten what the girl had said earlier after all.

"Yeah, not going to happen," Isaac replied when she decided they would get along better if he did whatever she told him to. Isaac didn't do what anyone told him to, not unless he got something out of it, and he wasn't going to start now. And certainly not with her. "Maybe you should do what I tell you," He countered, that playful smile on his face again as the teenage boy couldn't help but imagine how much fun that could be. He blinked away the little daydream as he collected her books and gave a wave to his friends, letting them know he had better things to do than walk with them to dinner.

Now that the day was finally over, Isaac pulled at the green tie that was still looped around his neck and shoved it into his pocket. Undoing the awful top button of the stuffy uniform shirt and untucking it from his pants, Isaac got comfortable. Turning back to her, her books now firmly in his hands, he spoke. "Maybe I just wanted to steal your shit," Isaac laughed, "It is not as if you use these things?" He held the books up, balancing them on one hand as they headed out of the detention hall. It was dark outside by the time detention was over, nearly time for dinner, and Isaac yawned at the change of lighting.

Moving from the center of the corridor to an open window, Magnolia's books wobbled in Isaac's hand as he balanced them. "Shall I drop them from the window?"

“Sorry, I don’t take orders from wannabe bad boys,” she retorted but there was no malice in her words or much judgment for that matter. He was a pain to deal with, that much was true, but not so much so that it was intolerable to spend time with him. Obviously not the latter or the girl would have found ways to actively avoid him much like she was able to actively dodge Professors when they tried to ask her how she was progressing on all that missed homework. But she sort of liked getting caught up in Isaac, and these days was also sort of wandering into his traps without much of a fight. Her friends would probably have something to say about it had they known but she wasn’t really trying to tell them either.

She watched him silently as he started to pull at his tie, realizing that he actually looked more like himself when he wasn’t really wearing the uniform all proper, rules didn’t really fit him and she realized much to her horror that she was talking about him like he mattered to her. Yep, this was going to be a problem. She chose to look ahead instead, a step ahead of him to try to dissuade any ideas that they were walking together. Nobody needed those kinds of rumors to take flight.

“If you really want my quill I’ll have Mavis get you one, too,” she teased, knowing he probably wanted nothing to do with the glittery quill that had quickly become her favorite. It was absolutely the prettiest thing she had ever laid her eyes on. When she realized that he might actually go through with his word this time she suddenly tugged at his arm, to pull him as far away from the window as possible. “Stop!” she shouted, her voice resonating loudly in the corridor, “Stop being a prick, give me my books back,” she added angrily. But his annoying behavior did not surprise her, she was starting to feel nervous when he kept being nice to her, so it was good to know that he hadn’t changed one bit.

Magnolia pulled on his arm, but he stayed still, holding her books precariously close to the open window, and laughed. Isaac didn't plan to drop them, but it was amusing to make her think he was going to. He inched closer, his feet moving toward the window, and wiggled his eyebrows at her. "Or what?" He said, daring her to do something about it and way too invested in finding out what it might be. Some students passed by them, but Isaac was not remotely paying attention to their whispers or curious looks because his eyes focused on hers.

"What will you do, Magnolia?" Lifting the books higher so that they were out of her reach, Isaac grinned. He was tempting her even though he shouldn't have been. Sure he had her textbooks hostage, but she had far more to use against him when it came down to it. And somewhere in the back of his mind, Isaac knew this was true. He knew she could easily spread the gossipy details of the secret only she knew, it wouldn't be hard for her, but he also felt like she wasn't going to. She would have by now if it were a possibility, which returned some of his confidence. The rest of his behavior could be chalked up to a curious amount of interest in the witch before him.

Magnolia stared at him for a moment, wondering if he’d actually do it or if he was just trying to make her upset, but she wasn’t about to relent and she certainly wasn’t about to let him ruin dinner and whatever other activities she had planned for them. “Or nothing,” she replied, eying him with much precaution, “Actually,” she thought about it for a moment, “Why don’t you go ahead? That way when I’m asked why I don’t have my homework, I can say you’ve tossed my books out the window, sounds like a good excuse, doesn’t it?” she teased, rolling her eyes at him and continuing onward, “If you want my attention you’re gonna have to do better than that, Isaac,” she said in a sing-song voice, loud enough for a group of students (little ones from the looks of it) to hear and snicker among themselves.

She hoped that, if anything, he’d get embarrassed and come down from that high horse he always found himself on. That pretentious prick. Too bad that he actually had good taste in music because otherwise, there wasn’t anything remotely redeeming about him. “Good night, Isaac,” she turned to give him a way,  pausing to see if he’d actually go through with his word, or give her books back, or more likely, say something that would irritate her to no end. Regardless of what it was, she probably wouldn’t care that much.

It was about getting her attention, everything he did was for her attention, but Isaac either didn't know it or didn't want to yet because when she said it he shook his head at her. She wasn't wrong, but he still thought she was. "Oh your no fun," He told her as she turned to leave and told him goodnight. He wasn't going to drop them, but he thought she'd at least try to get them back from him. Pouting a little Isaac half jogged to catch up to her. The tall wizard quickly fell into step next to her, not behind like before, and gave the little twitches a glare for good measure as they passed by.

He held the books out to her, if she really wanted them, he wouldn't pull them away again, and sidestepped in front of her. Blocking her path, getting in her bubble, all of the things he did so often these days, and smirking. He did a lot of that too when she was around. Isaac dropped the books into her hands before lowering his voice.

"I saw what you wrote in your notebook, by the way," He winked at her before turning to head down the hall. His laughter echoed off the stones as he made it to the stairwell and jogged down them.

Magnolia smiled a little when he followed her down the hall instead of tossing the books out the window, not like he had any other route to take but through the same hallway that she was taking but that didn’t sound as romantic in her head. Whether she was right or wrong about him wanting her attention, she’d never know for he hadn’t really denied it, not like he usually did. But what did it mean? It didn’t really matter right now, but she knew it would probably keep her up later when she was trying to figure out her next move. For now, things felt natural and it was a nice change of pace to the normal awkwardness she felt around most boys she fancied.

At least that was until her thoughts came to a screeching halt, much like she did when he told her that he had seen something in her notebook. “What?” she practically shouted in much embarrassment and surprise, thinking she knew exactly what he was referring to and not liking it one bit. “Wait, Isaac, what?” but instead of answering her question, as she figured he would not, he simply winked at her and left. And all of a sudden all that nice stuff she had thought about them didn’t feel as sweet anymore. What a jerk.

Taking a deep breath, she tried to pretend like whatever he thought he knew didn’t mean anything. She’d own up to it if she had to, no doubt about it.  Well, maybe. With that thought, she went back to her dormitory with hopes she'd eventually live the embarrassment down.
