I think there should be 3-4 crazies just to make sure that the sickness gets around? Because there is going to be a lot of people.

you would be amazed at how quickly one person can spread a disease to a large number of people. especially when they're all in the same location... we're trying not to infect the entire room.

i see it making more sense with just one person. the actions of one insane former DE operating completely on his own... because lets be honest. the DEs KNOW voldie's dead this time, they can't trust each other, because look at what happened last time? they turned on each other to survive...

i tried to backread everything and sorry if i missed if this was already established or suggested already but ..

for the poison/disease thing, maybe those who are infected could develop visible 'magical' symptoms... maybe like a distinct rash purple and blue in color orr grows some weird thing on their body like antlers or a tail orr something like that with a more 'magical' touch to it

an idea i had, since diseases tend to move in stages....

first they're dizzy. this lasts for about an hour or two, depending on the person. accompanied by noises seeming either too loud, or too quiet.

than, the whites of their eyes turn bright yellow-green and they start leaking black tears.

shortly after this, maybe an hour or so...fever sets in, along with a caugh... as they gradualy get little red welts all over their body...

several more hours later, they begin caughing up the same stuff they're crying.... start feeling incredibly weak, lathargic, like they have weights tied to their limbs.

12-18 hours after the dizzy spells set in.... Death.

Hehehe it'd be kinda freaky. An entire ward full of people leaking magical light...imagine trying to sleep.

Everybody's ideas are phenomenal!
I really like the idea of the ball + the plague.
Maybe, since it's supposed to be amongst magical folk, before death comes, they lose most or some of their magical abilities? Or something, I don't know.
I'm excited. ^.^

Hmm. What if while they were "dying" / had become infected (pretty much along the lines Morrigan had explained with that same timeline) they started acting crazy... Like their wands needed to be taken away from them because the potion not only was meant to kill them, but also meant to get them to kill others?

I could see this working quite well! and it makes sense.

Only 12-18 hours?  There would need to be a bit more time other wise everyone would die.  Then again, maybe some that choose to get it would suffer a little differently.  Like instead of dying they'd be suffering a lot of pain.  If they did manage to make it to the point of getting cured perhaps they'd be extremely weak magically speaking for the rest of their lives?
